Also know about which line to chant for corresponding Nakshatra.
In the Anushasana Parva of Mahabharata, Veda vyasa explains Vishnu Sahasranama which was advised to Yudhishtira by Bhishma.
Shri Krishna advices Yudhishtira to learn Dharma from Bhishma Pitamaha who was lying in arrow bed. Thus infront of Veda Vyasa, Krishna and other pandavas, Yudhishtira asks Bhishma many doubts :-
1. Kim ekam daivatam loke? Who is the deva of universe?
2. Kim japan muchyate jantur janma samsaara bandhanaath? By chanting whose name, do we get out of the cycle of birth & death
Bhismacharya answered these by “Jagat prabhum deva devam anantam
purushothamam, Stuvan naama sahasrena purusha sathathothithaha".
After mentioning Narayana is one & only Supreme protector, advices 1000 names of Shri Hari. Later Veda vyasa with the help of Sahadev notes down this. Chanting Vishnu Sahasranamam can cure any diseases.
It also prevents fear, reduces quarrels in the family.
This is a protective shield to children. If anyone finds difficult to chant whole Sahasranama atleast they should chant this
श्रीराम राम रामेति रमे रामे मनोरमे
सहस्रनाम तत्तुल्यं राम नाम वरानने
Chanting the name of Shri Rama 3 times is equivalent to chanting whole Sahasranama
Vishnu Sahasranamam - for Nakshatra Dosha
People who can't read Saharanama daily can check the shloka corresponding to their nakshatra & chant it 11 times. But it is suggested to chant Vishnu Sahasranamam as a whole always

This is a beautiful story which depicts the importance of bhakti. Once in a palace Srimad Bhagavatam was being recited.
The story was Gajendra Moksham that day. Pandit was explaining how crocodile caught hold of elephant & how elephant was crying to help.
With pure faith when elephant called for Sriman Narayana's help, within a second Mahavishnu came there in Garuda Vahana.
Suddenly King stopped the Pandit & raised a doubt. Mahavishnu came to elephant's help from Vaikunta, so how far is Vaikuntam? Pandit was confused by the question. Then a man who was hearing all these came forward & told. May I answer this question?
