1/ Friday’s Alaska summit could change the course of the war.
From Kyiv, I’ve spotted a subtle but HUGE shift in Trump’s language on Russia —
—one that could absolutely flip America’s view of Ukraine 👇🧵⤵️
2/ For 3 years, I’ve been the only American reporting live daily from Ukraine—on @WGNRadio.
Now I’ve launched a weekly video report—depth & context from the ground.
📺 Watch Ep. 1 here — or read along for insights, illustrated by @neivanmade:
⤵️
3/ Kyiv’s skies have been strangely quiet for a week — after a month of the heaviest bombing of the war.
But Russia is still hitting “less famous” cities like Zaporizhzhia (📸), hoping Trump won’t hear about it.
It's seriously often that simple. ⤵️
4/ A Kyiv friend texted me:
“It feels like it’s going to be a dangerous week.”
Not because of bombs — but because of what might be given away in Alaska.
Step back from the hype: Trump’s recent linguistic shift is hugely hopeful.
It just needs oxygen — and the right push. ⤵️
5/ Last week, Trump called Russia “the Russian war machine.”
That’s huge.
For years, MAGA voters have seen “supporting Ukraine” as supporting the American war machine.
This flips the script — and it panicked Russians like @kadmitriev and @AGDugin. ⤵️
6/ If Trump frames Ukraine as STOPPING the War Machine, the Kremlin loses one of its best propaganda hooks in America.
Maybe that’s why land-swap talk suddenly took over headlines—Russia needed to change the subject.
Alas, even Ukrainians took the bait. The theme changed.⤵️
7/ Course correction: Giving Russia territory—and the people & resources that go with it—DOES NOT bring peace.
It feeds the War Machine—making it stronger and more dangerous for everyone.
Better to help Ukraine starve the Machine of resources.
For that, Crimea is key. ⤵️
8/ Crimea is the Greenland of the East:
⦿ Controls Black Sea trade & military access
⦿ Launchpad for missiles into Europe
➡️ But liberation has begun: Ukraine’s sea drones have destroyed 1/3 of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet and sent it fleeing from Crimea to Russian mainland ⤵️
9/ If these victories were to be ignored and Ukraine were to be abandoned, Russia would gain:
⦿ A battle-hardened army
⦿ World-class drone tech
⦿ Ukrainian know-how
That’s a supercharged force to add to Moscow's masses of minions with a clear path into Europe. 😱 ⤵️
10/ Unlike the first Crimea War of the 1850s, the West doesn’t need to send troops to stop the Russian War Machine: just tools.
With Ukrainian innovation + big brilliant American tools, Ukraine will be the free world's wonderful wall, stopping the Russo-Sino War Machine. ⤵️
11/ 🇺🇦🎯 Weekly Tech Focus w/ @DefenderMediaUA:
The Mongoose drone interceptor—jet-powered, reusable, & with a shotgun—hunts multiple Russian Shaheds per mission. Made by Odesa's Technary.
The Pentagon spends $125k on single-use interceptors. Ukraine builds better for less.⤵️
12/ Follow me for an American view of Ukraine’s resilient resistance—and weekly deep dives from the ground.
1/ Ukraine once made half the world’s supply of the gas that powers every advanced chip.
Now Russia holds part of it, China makes most of the rest—and together they’re on the verge of controlling a global tech chokehold.
The gas? Neon. Here’s why it matters 🧵⤵️
2/ While Trump and Zelenskyy ride their emotional rollercoaster, China and Russia are quietly making moves on Ukraine’s hidden tech lifeline for the world.
It’s about neon, yes, but it's most about brilliant human resources falling into War Machine hands ⤵️
3/ Why neon matters:
Deep-UV lithography—the tech that etches circuits into silicon wafers—runs on gas mixes that are 90–95% neon.
1/ Ukraine has an invisible wall that kills Russian drones with math.
It's 1,500 kilometers long, weighs nothing, and operates on frequencies that change by the hour.
Against invading drones, Ukrainians are building an adaptable protective ecosystem 🧵⤵️
2/ David Kirichenko (@DVKirichenko), reporting for @EuromaidanPress, goes inside Ukraine's secret electronic warfare bunkers, where, 24/7, operators are jamming the jammable among Russia's killer drones—while allowing Ukrainian drones to carry on ⤵️
1/ Western liberals are accusing Israel of "genocide" in Gaza while ignoring ACTUAL genocide in Ukraine.
A leading historian says this moral blindness is helping tyrants win—and the West is too busy with its "luxury beliefs" to notice. 🧵⤵️
2/ Sir Niall Ferguson—@Stanford historian and author of The War of the World who was knighted in 2024 by King Charles—drops a devastating critique in @thetimes.
His question: "Which do you care more about—victory, or your own moral superiority?" ⤵️
3/ "The war in Gaza is brutal," @nfergus says. "But one cannot call this nasty war genocide."
In occupied Ukraine, Russia has kidnapped at least 19,456 children—possibly up to 35,000.
Ukrainian boys are being conscripted to fight vs their own people.
