⚠️ 💉⚠️ Many in the MAHA community are understandably upset regarding headlines like: “Moderna COVID vax gets full approval for children.”

But please rest assured: the FDA’s recent full approval of Spikevax for 6 months–11 years isn’t a broad pediatric mandate but a narrow indication for children with specific high-risk conditions.

Only a tiny fraction of kids qualify—those with rare or severe diseases.

Conditions include cystic fibrosis, hematologic malignancies (e.g., leukemia), organ transplant recipients, primary immunodeficiencies, sickle cell disease, congenital heart disease, dialysis-dependent kidney disease, severe chronic lung diseases (e.g., pulmonary hypertension), and type 1 diabetes.

Parents must give informed consent after reviewing potential risks (there are many) and benefits with their child’s physician—this is purely optional, not a requirement.

Kudos to @FDA @DrMakaryFDA @MartyMakary & CBER Director @VPrasadMDMPH for guiding this evidence-driven, measured decision—giving an option restricted to only those who may need it most.

‼️ 🧵 On June 30, 2025, California’s democracy didn’t just stumble—it was executed in broad daylight. The weapon? A shady legislative scam that gutted CEQA, our state’s bedrock environmental law, and the culprits were none other then @GavinNewsom & Sen @Scott_Wiener. Buckle up, because this is a takedown you won’t forget—courtesy of Christopher LeGras’s explosive article, "6/30/2025: The Day Democracy Died in California".

The Setup: Wiener’s SB 607 Fiasco
Back in February, Wiener dropped SB 607, a bill so outrageous it would’ve let almost every new construction project—housing, factories, even airports—skip environmental reviews under CEQA. This wasn’t some minor tweak; it was a chainsaw to a law that’s safeguarded California’s environment for over 50 years. Predictably, it got torched by 127 environmental heavyweights like the Sierra Club and NRDC, plus labor unions and cities. Facing a revolt, Wiener gutted it in May, swapping the text for vague fluff after it had already sailed through Senate committees. Dead bill, right? Wrong.

The Scam: Trailer Bill Trickery
Here’s where it gets dirty. Wiener, Newsom, and Senate Pro Tem Mike McGuire cooked up a bait-and-switch. They resurrected SB 607 as a budget “trailer bill”—AB 131 and SB 131—slipping it into the state budget where it could dodge the normal process. No committees. No public hearings. No scrutiny. Newsom’s Hostage Game
It gets worse. Newsom didn’t just back this—he *held the state hostage* to ram it through. He threatened to veto the entire state budget unless lawmakers rubber-stamped AB/SB 131. That’s right: one man strong-armed 39 million Californians, forcing a vote on a bill the public had four days to read. LeGras nails it: “A single individual held the entire state politically hostage in order to get his way.” Extortion, not leadership. And the spineless legislature caved, proving they’re more loyal to Newsom’s ego than their constituents.

The Fallout: CEQA Gutted, Democracy Trashed
CEQA’s now a husk—stripped so tech giants, real estate moguls, and corporate cronies can bulldoze whatever they want, no questions asked. Wiener whines that CEQA’s “weaponized” to block projects, but the real crime is his and Newsom’s weaponization of power. In his veto letter, @CAgovernor @GavinNewsom ADMITS that he vetoed the California Fireproofing Bill not because we don’t need it but because it would ruin his plan to force people into cities! He actually says “… fails to account for consequences that could increase sprawl and places significant cost burdens on the state. New state laws and policies are already directing housing to communities near transit, jobs and urban centers…”

This bill would impose certain fire hazard planning responsibilities on local
governments and would require cities and counties to make specified findings
on fire standards prior to permitting development in the very high fire hazard
severity zone.

I strongly support strengthening land use planning requirements in order to
better protect our communities from wildfire. The importance of reducing the
number and impact of fires in our communities cannot be overstated.

However, this bill creates inconsistencies, duplicates existing requirements, creates a
loophole for regions to not comply with their housing requirements, fails to
account for consequences that could increase sprawl and places significant
cost burdens on the state.

New state laws and policies are already directing housing to communities near
transit, jobs and urban centers and away from fire risk areas, including
integration into the current housing planning cycle. Additionally, the 2019-20
Budget requires the California Department of Housing and Community
Development, in collaboration with the Governor's Office of Planning and
Research, to develop recommendations to improve the regional housing need
allocation process to promote and streamline housing development to address

California's housing shortage.
Wildfire resilience must become a more consistent part of land use and
development decisions. However, it must be done while meeting our housing
needs.”
