to those participating in the boycott or making the choice to withhold from using youtube's website, apps or service, ive decided to compile a list of alternatives and open-source frontends for youtube and it's subsidiaries.

- rumble (filled with garbage and right wing nut content, may be a headache)
- vidlii, bitchute, and alot of those 2000s-esque youtube sites (toxic, weird)
- tiktok (known to cause attention span issues, security concerns)

[WELL, WHAT IF I WANNA WATCH YT STILL?]
no worries! frontends exist and so do clients built by communities for private and safe ways to watch youtube videos without having to give up analytics and watch history to google

im not seeing much for youtube alternatives on ios, so if you can, load up your preferred browser and just use invidious, will probably update if there's an ios frontend app out there

[WHAT ABOUT YOUTUBE MUSIC?]
i gotcha!
- for android, use metrolist, vimusic, or innertube
- if you want gui for desktop, use beatbump, ytmdesktop or audiotube (only for linux)
- for html, beatbump has frontends available or you can use the vanilla ytm site with ublock

[HOW CAN I SUPPORT MY FAVORITE CREATORS?]
if they have a donation platform such as ko-fi, patreon, etc. or have other methods of support such as merch and stream donations then feel free to leave a tip if you enjoy their content! if not, just promote via word- (cont.)

and others will likely chime in. supporting independent creators matter as they work hard to make the content you and their fans enjoy, if you like it, give back if you wanna! always good to support others

[WHAT IF I DONT WANNA USE THESE?]
then dont, not to worry. these are for people who might want something that isnt controlled by google and/or something that is separate from the vanilla youtube experience. or perhaps they want an alternative platform to enjoy content on (cont.)

and thats okay. if you dont want all of this and still want yt as it is, my recommendation is to just turn off watch history, install privacy badger and ublock origin + easylist filters on your browser and enjoy! while not most optimal, if you want it, you got it.

you deserve control, dont let big tech push you around and make you feel like having a private experience without intrusive trackers or ai trying to determine your age group. you deserve privacy and anonymity. cherish it and fight for it.

ill likely end up making this into a small github dot io/neocities list for those who want more updates, but i have alot on my own plate and it might take time. feel free to suggest other frontends or give your thoughts in qrts or replies.

another note, make sure to cancel yt premium if you havent, while small, when many people do it, it takes a hit at google and youtube's wallet. its also kind of, well, useless. save your money for snacks to watch something nice with, or something good later on in life!
