Story from my life: So driving along a residential street, I see a lone miniature collie cross the street obviously lost and quickly turned right to park and see if it would stop for me as I got out and called the dog over. After a bit of looking at me, finally did. Another lady
had stopped on the other side of the road thinking was I was and that the dog was lost. Wearing a collar and tags, I was able to hold the collar and read out the multiple phone numbers on the tag to the other woman but no one answered any of the calls and she did text a few too
with no response. I'd guess while I am talking to the dog, whose name is Miller, she made phone calls over about 20 minutes. No luck and I'm thinking if the dog would get in my vehicle, I'd take him to my former veterinarian's office and see if he is micro-chipped. Then an older
man calls out from across the street. He was looking for Miller and so the dog was reunited. Turns out the dog got out through a gate left open when someone left their yard. He'd just been lost a short time too as I drove back up the street as Miller was escorted back home and it
was only a half block away. While we three were talking, Miller went over to the other lady, let her pat him which she'd not done and gave her hand a few licks. Then Miller came over to me and leaned up against my legs (that is considered a hug from a dog) and gave my hand a few
licks too. Just by chance I was driving this alternate way home as otherwise would not have seen Miller. Tips if ever seeing a lost dog: 1) Crouch down if the dog has stopped so will not be intimidating. Use common commands in a soft voice, like: Come, Come and sit, patting the
ground. 2) Evaluate if the dog will let you move your hand near them to as in this case, I was able to hold the collar. 3) Check for tags. This dog was also registered with the City; so as a last resort could call the main # if open and source the address. 4) Keep talking
soothingly to the dog telling them they are being really good and maybe they could, "Sit or lie down." Some will. Miller just stood the entire time but wasn't trying to get away. 5) Consider taking them to the nearest veterinarian to be check for a micro-chip as then the owners
can be phoned to pick up their dog at the vet's office. I was so glad the owner showed up though as he was so happy two ladies had cared enough to stop driving to try and help the dog. Excellent outcome. I drove up to where the man's wife was reunited with Miller & she waved her
thank you also. I'm so glad it turned out okay. Fin/

Reason for this is: A few weeks ago, a very nice male resident in our smaller condo complex who owns a friendly dog was alone & was talking to another dog owner here with her dog who bit him when he went to pat the dog. He needed stitches to his hand. This dog is a Husky type.
The man told me later when I saw the bandage on his hand what had happened. He said the female owner said the dog hadn't been well at the time & so he was willing to let 'it' go. He said she apparently was going to muzzle her dog in future and take it to 'classes.' This evening I
saw her and the dog which was muzzled. I let her know I heard what had happened. I love dogs and it was leashed and so I called to it. It came over and as I went to pat it, the dog had he/she? went to bite me. I wasn't due to the muzzle. Did startle me though. She again said her
@BamaSaltyMarine I worked as a Critical Care RN with many shifts in a Coronary Care Acute unit, in ER & an Open Heart Post Op ICU. 1) Denial is a symptom of a heart attack. People try to blame it on indigestion, gall bladder, fatigue. It's usually not if left/central crushing chest pain.
1/2
@BamaSaltyMarine 2) Pain is only a symptom when there is over 90% blockage of a coronary artery. 3) Cholesterol build-up in arteries forms and becomes solid preventing the artery from expanding when needed with exertion and more oxygen is needed for the heart muscle and the body. Arteries 2/3
@BamaSaltyMarine can expand up to 10% of the original diameter. Smoking actually causes contraction of the arteries. 4) The blood of cholesterol built up arteries is through pin holes, not the middle part and thus if those pin holes close totally, this is why even with a cardiac arrest from 3/4
@1MikeMorris They also make Frozen Yogurt in different flavours. Would you believe this: I'm caffeine sensitive++, aware of this from high heart rate reaction happening after drinking a lot coffee one day decades ago. They have a Chocolate Espresso Frozen Yogurt. Love it but usually only 1/2
@1MikeMorris have a few tablespoons each time as mix with Vanilla yogurt. One night over a month ago had a big bowl of it. Within 5 minutes my normal heart rate of about 68/min. jumped up to 120 beats per minute. As an RN (now retired) who worked in Critical Care, I know a lot about 2/3
@1MikeMorris heart function. Had no idea what had caused this as was sitting at my table using a laptop. Did carotid massage on my neck to reduce it to only 100 and was totally otherwise asymptomatic. After an hour it was 88 and in 2 hours was back to normal. I looked at the ingredients 3/4
Novavax update: Today I received a specific email from Sanofi about the Novavax vaccine for 2025 fall: named Nuvaxovid which targets a JN.1 strain. Quote: "Please note that we do not plan to bring Nuvaxovid® to the Canadian market for the upcoming 2025 fall season at this time."
The email stated the transition of the Novavax to Sanofi company in Canada is still ongoing. Perhaps once the transition is complete in the next weeks this June/July, there will be reconsidering of providing Nuvaxovid to Canadians. I have once again called the company to inquire
if this may be happening. I still believe with enough public pressure on our governments provincially the need for this vaccine must be acknowledged and thus orders for this vaccine may be made. IF it is being made available to other countries, why not Canada? I've requested a
My update on Novavax inquiry with the Sanofi Pharmaceutical company contact # in Canada. This afternoon I made 3 1-800 calls. With the first at a general customer service #, she was not able to answer my questions; was transferred to a second person at a medical professional
inquiry # but after about 10 minutes, the call got disconnected. It happens sometimes. I then called back at the same # for the medical menu choice and had a good conversation with a male representative. He typed my four questions to be forwarded to the correct individual to
reply either by email or phone. My questions were: 1) Is the company working on a new formula of Novavax now for the 2025-2026 Covid booster season considering the new variant? 2) With the last production of Novavax how long is it before the expiration of that specific formula
Novavax update of information: I just called long distance to the Novavax customer service (no 1-800 #) for information about supply possibly to Canadian and specificially B.C. Found out a few facts: The current Novavax vaccine is although not outdated is not the newer one
currently being developed for the fall of 2025. Whatever supply is 'out there' is the formula which was used previously. We have a new variant and I assume the new formula will be adjusted for protection from it. Also, the Novavax company & vaccine now has been absorbed by a new
company: Sanofi. Link: They are now working on the new vaccine and the head of this pharmaceutical company is in France. There is however a branch in Toronto. Can be contacted at the website or 1-800-268-7263 or (416) 667-2700. I'll be calling them today.sanofi.com/en/canada
