Start here, @reidhoffman; (reframing question) As LinkedIn CEO, what would you do?
Here's 18 from my running Google Doc: 1. Seek user feedback. Simple. 2. 2-step platform raid: a) Eliminate fake profiles, companies, and jobs. b) Purge profiles whose behavior indicates using fake social indicators (e.g., engagement pods), incl. Top Voices for review.
4. Make "the state of job search" for job seekers safer, easier, and a priority over employer features and benefits. 5. Pour resources, including staff, AI, and money, into proactively defending any creation of fake profiles, jobs, pages, governance, and enforcement on UA, TOS, Prof. & Comm. Policies
6. Platform transparency to pre-MSFT days. MAU numbers, and end the promotion of 1b+ members when so many fake members exist. 7. Less revenue-focused moves; More user-centricity 8. Members of LinkedIn who have been laid off receive 6 months of free Premium Membership.
9. For every influencer, Top Voice, or Creator gifted a premium membership, 2 are given to unemployed members. 10. Mentorship simply for the sake of mentorship. Connect approved and vetted mentors (members) with those in need. 11. Work on Groups regardless of no revenue produced
12. Feature regular people doing good, inspiring stories to celebrate, not top voices or famous figures unrelated to most members. 13. Candidate Ratings. Applicants rate job listings on interview process, JD accuracy, responsiveness, and real openings. Job Poster overall rating
14. Reverse Hiring 15. More control over notification preferences. If done right, I would never have to leave LinkedIn to open a new window or app. 16. Implement Steve Jobs' 3-Click rule across the platform. 17. Audio- Only events. Bring them back.
18. Create an InMail team that is tasked with one thing. Revise, enhance, or rebuild LinkedIn messaging from scratch. Make it easy for users to stay on your site and in your app.
I am serious about a Google Doc. DM me and I will email it to you @reidhoffman
