André Frossard, the atheist journalist who found God in 2 minutes.

A son of one of the founders of the French Communist Party. Raised without faith.
Committed atheist.

Until one day in 1969, that's when everything changed -a 🧵✝️ Image
Image
He was walking the streets of Paris with a friend.

His friend stopped and said: “I need to go inside here for a moment.”

It was a small Catholic chapel.
Frossard wasn’t interested, but he was curious.

He stepped inside. Image
The chapel was silent, dimly lit.

At the center: the Blessed Sacrament, the Eucharist, exposed on the altar.
Frossard didn’t know what it was.

To him, it was just a strange golden vessel. Image
Then, in an instant, something happened.

A sudden overwhelming light in his soul.
A certainty beyond reason.

Entering the chapel, where the Blessed Sacrament was being exposed, he mysteriously heard the words “spiritual life” and suddenly had an overwhelming sense that God existed, that He was what Christians called “our Father”, that he was of an unparalleled gentleness, but a gentleness so active and strong that it was capable of piercing the hardest rock and even the hardest human heart.

In those two minutes, the God he had denied his whole life stood before him, present in the Eucharist, whispering to him.Image
He would later say: “I was an atheist. And then, in two minutes, I was a Christian. I had met Him.”

The encounter was so intense that all his old convictions collapsed like dust.

God’s eruption in his life was accompanied by a deep joy, like the joy of a person rescued from a shipwreck. He experienced what he called “a silent and gentle explosion of light” and had a sense of belonging to a new family: the Church.

He was conscious of receiving a “light of truth, a light that really instructs, that informs as it illuminates…. And the curious thing is that this wordless instruction is exactly the same as that of the Church” (Be Not Afraid!, The Bodley Head, 1984, p. 49).Image
Image
He left the chapel in shock.

Not because he had “changed ideas” but because he had met a Person.

Jesus Christ. Alive. Real.

Frossard’s conversion had a permanent impact on him and led to his baptism soon afterwards. His mother was impressed by the effect of her son’s conversion on his behaviour – the rebellious youth became a much gentler and more joyful person.

Like his sister, she was to follow him afterwards into the Catholic Church.Image
Frossard spent the rest of his life telling his story.

The book he wrote about it
became a spiritual classic: “God Exists, I Met Him.” Image
Image
From communist atheism to Catholic faith, in 2 minutes.

André Frossard’s life is a reminder: God doesn’t need much time to change a soul.

Sometimes just a moment in His Presence is enough. Image

Christian symbols and their meanings - a 🧵 Image
The CHI RHO

The Chi Rho combines the first two Greek letters of “Christ”, Χ (Chi) and Ρ (Rho).

It became one of the earliest symbols for Jesus, used by early Christians. Image
Image
The FISH

ICHTHYS means “fish” in Greek and stands:
IESOUS CHRISTOS THEOU YIOS SOTER (Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior.)

It was a secret symbol among early Christians under Roman persecution and recalls the miracle of the multiplied fish. Image

Scientists have confirmed the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah

The Bible tells us of fire raining from the sky.
Modern science uncovered traces of a cosmic blast in the very same region.

The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah - a🧵✝️ Image
Image
"Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the Lord out of heaven. And He overthrew those cities…" (Gen 19:24–25).

For millennia, this was read as pure miracle. But what if divine judgment came through nature itself, and left his marks? Image
In 2021, scientists studying the ruins of Tall el-Hammam, near the Dead Sea, announced a shocking discovery:

Around 1650 BC, the city was instantly annihilated by what looked like a cosmic airburst, an explosion in the sky like Tunguska. Image

Cairo, Egypt 1968. The Virgin Mary appeared over a church rooftop, glowing in light.

Muslims and Christians saw her. Even President Nasser did.

The government investigated. They found no explanation.

The apparitions of Our Lady of Zeitoun – a 🧵🇪🇬 ✝️ Image
Image
It all started on April 2, 1968, at the Church of Saint Mary in Zeitoun, Cairo.

Two Muslim mechanics across the street saw a figure on the roof: “She’s going to jump!” one shouted.

The shouts of the two men attracted a small crowd. Those who saw the woman were filled with confusion and awe.

One of the Church custodians voiced what everyone was thinking: “Could that be the Virgin Mary?”

The police were called. But as the crowd gathered, something extraordinary happened.

The figure glowed with a brilliant light.Image
More and more people gathered.

They could see clearly: a woman in white, standing with arms outstretched.

Sometimes kneeling.
Sometimes moving among shining doves of light.

She stayed for minutes. Then vanished.
It wasn’t a one-time event. Image

In 1912, Alexis Carrel won the Nobel Prize in Medicine.

He was a brilliant doctor, and an outspoken skeptic.
No miracles, no supernatural. He didn't believe in God, let alone the Catholic Church.

Until one trip to Lourdes changed everything.

The scientist who converted - a 🧵 Image

From the time of Blessed Mary’s first apparition to Bernadette Soubirous, the water from the Lourdes Grotto has been a source of miraculous healing both for those who have visited the Grotto and even for those who used the water in remote places.

Since the time of Bernadette, over 7,000 miraculous cures have been reported to the Lourdes Medical Bureau by pilgrims who have visited Lourdes (this does not include miracles that have taken place outside of Lourdes).

There were so many purported cures associated with the water and Grotto of Lourdes that the Catholic Church set up the Lourdes Medical Bureau to be constituted by and under the leadership of physicians and scientists alone.Image

In 1902, a physician friend of Dr. Carrel invited him to help take care of sick patients transported on a train from Lyons to Lourdes.

Though Carrel was born Catholic, he was at that time an agnostic who did not believe in miracles.

Nevertheless, he consented to help out, both because of friendship and an interest in what natural causes might be allowing such fast healings as those claimed at Lourdes.Image

Today, the Church celebrates one of the greatest mysteries in salvation history: the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven.

A dogma of faith, a prophecy fulfilled, and the promise of our own resurrection.

The Assumption of Our Lady - a 🧵✝️ Image
Image
The Assumption is not merely a pious legend.
It is Dogma, solemnly defined by Pope Pius XII in Munificentissimus Deus (1950):

“The Immaculate Mother of God… having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.” Image
Image
While the event is not narrated explicitly, it is deeply rooted in the Word of God.

Psalm 45,10–11 (Messianic and Marian prophecy):
“At your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir" Image

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"

This is what Christ told the apostles

Aand after the Pentecost, they would go forth to the ends of the Earth

Here’s where each Apostle went - a 🧵 Image
1) Saint Peter, leader of the Apostles, first Pope.

Preached in Jerusalem, Antioch, Rome and across Asia Minor.

Finally, in Rome, he was crucified upside-down under Nero (c. 64 AD), saying he was unworthy to die like Christ. Image
Image
2) Saint Andrew, brother of Peter, the “First-Called.” Preached in Asia Minor, Thrace, and along the Black Sea coast, including Scythia (modern-day Ukraine and southern Russia)

Martyred on an X-shaped cross in Patras, Greece, joyfully proclaiming the Cross of Christ. Image
