Watching the Sweden Democrats fall into completely insane Israel worship (having been slandered and attacked as "nazis" for twenty years) while also embracing NATO, "The West" and "judeo-christian values" as all of these things are collapsing around is genuinely shocking to me.

The Sweden democrats' poisonous gifts to their vaunted fatherland are far more pernicious, evil, and destructive than bigotry, even though they *are* ridiculous, *overcompensating* bigots when it comes to the question of muslims and Islam.
SD today appears more like some kind of weird end-of-empire cargo cult. The connections to actual historical Swedish culture has been lost or heavily attenuated, leading to them desperately filling the void with loyalty to NATO, "the west" or trans-atlanticism.
