How Nehru signed the Indus Waters Treaty in 1960 without having any discussion in the Parliament.

A look back at what happened, and how many MPs, even of Congress, felt India was betrayed in this deal between Nehru and Ayub. #Thread Image
2- On 19 Sept 1960, Nehru and Pakistan’s Ayub Khan signed the Indus Waters Treaty in Karachi.

The World Bank was a guarantor. By the time Parliament discussed it, the treaty was already a done deal.
3- The division was simple but unfair:

India got 3 rivers (Ravi, Beas, Sutlej), while Pakistan got the other 3 (Indus, Jhelum, Chenab).

In volume, 80% of water went to Pakistan, only 20% to India. Image
4- Nehru also agreed to pay Pakistan Rs 83 crore in foreign exchange (pounds sterling) to help them build new canals and dams.

This at a time when India itself faced a forex crunch. Image
5- When the treaty came up in Lok Sabha on 30 Nov 1960, it was only for a short 2-hour debate.

Yes! only 2 hours were allotted to 'discuss' this treaty. MPs were furious that they were never consulted before signing.
6- Many Congress MPs openly criticised Nehru.

Congress MP Asoka Mehta called this the “second partition.” After giving land in 1947, now Nehru was giving away rivers too. Image
7- Several MPs, like Congress' A.C. Guha and young Atal ji, said the deal made no economic sense.

India gave up most of the waters, still paid Pakistan, and would now see huge losses in irrigation and power potential. Image
8- The process itself angered MPs.

They felt Parliament was treated like a rubber stamp, given no real role, only asked to react after the deal was already sealed.
9- Nehru’s reply was defensive.

He said Parliament couldn’t 'handle' every international negotiation, and after 10+ years of talks, a decision had to be taken.

So, he decided to play dictator and went on with his wish. Image
10- He famously said: “We purchased a settlement, we purchased peace.” In other words, India gave money and water to buy peace with Pakistan.

So? Did we get peace? Did Pakistan stop infiltrating Kashmir? Did terror attacks end? NO! Then what exactly did Nehru purchase? Image
11- After the Pahalgam attack, the govt suspended the Indus Waters Treaty.

On 15th August, PM Modi called it “one-sided and unjust.”

For decades, our farmers suffered while our rivers fed Pakistan

Water and blood will no longer flow together.

1/ The opposition has recently started attacking the Governors of their states.

They say the Governor is not reading the speech handed to them in the Assembly.

Let us understand how things work. #Thread
2/ In the state Assembly, the state govt gives the Governor a speech to read.

It has been a tradition that the speech consists of welfare work done by the state govt for the people.

Every government, irrespective of party or ideology, has followed this.
3/ But recently, the opposition has started giving Governors speeches that directly attack the central government.

Over the years, no CM or state government has ever done this.

1/ Today is 23rd January, the day we remember one of the greatest sons of Bharat Mata, Subhas Chandra Bose Ji, on his birth anniversary. Don't miss this #Thread.

While remembering him, we must also not forget how he was systematically targeted by Nehru.

Nehru's actions against Netaji show a long pattern of hostility, jealousy, and hatred that continued even after Netaji's reported death.Image
2/In 1939, after Bose defeated Nehru-backed candidate Pattabhi Sitaramayya and was re-elected Congress President, Nehru openly orchestrated the mass resignation of 12 Congress Working Committee members.

This was done to paralyse Bose and force him out. Image
3/Bose later wrote to his nephew Amiya Nath Bose, that no one had HARMED him more than Nehru.

He accused Nehru of using Congress machinery & ministries to work against him. Soon after, Bose was stripped of power, pushed out of Congress, and politically isolated. Image

#Thread Our Somnath Mandir is about to complete 1000 years since it was first attacked & desecrated by Mahmud Ghazni.

It was rebuilt through the struggles & sacrifices of our forefathers, but not without facing strong opposition from the “visionary” Nehru, who opposed the reconstruction with all his might.

Read what Nehru wrote in his letters to oppose the reconstruction-Image
1- Letter to Liaquat Ali Khan (PM of Pakistan), 21 April 1951

Nehru wrote to Liaquat Ali Khan, addressed him as “Dear Nawabzada” and downplayed the Somnath reconstruction.

He said the Somnath narrative was “completely false” and reassured Pakistan instead of defending India. Image
2- Letter to R. R. Diwaker (Minister of Information & Broadcasting), 28 April 1951

Nehru asked him to reduce the media coverage of the consecration ceremony. He called the ceremony “pompous” and said it was harming India’s image in the world. Image

Throughout 2025, Congress IT cell and its ecosystem tried their best to project Rahul Gandhi as jan-nayak.

But in reality, he is nothing more than a spoiled brat full of arrogance.

Here is a thread exposing his arrogance:

1- During his roadshow, Rahul’s car ran over a policeman.

He did not step out. He did not care.
2- Rahul Gandhi was caught on camera pushing away his own Congress karyakarta.

Imagine being a karyakarta, working on the ground 24x7 for a party despite not winning any elections, and still being treated like this by the nepo crown prince of the party.
3- He did not even have the courtesy to bow in respect after the national anthem, while every other leader did so.

What has he achieved to be this arrogant, when even senior leaders like PM Modi, Draupadi Murmu ji, & even his own party prez Kharge folded their hands in respect?
