The Supreme Court is the hearing the AIFF Constitution case. The matter will be heard by Justices P. S. Narasimha and Joymalya Bagchi.

INDIAN OLYMPIC ASSOCIATION V UNION OF INDIA AND ORS
SLP(C) No. 14533/2022

Sr Adv Gopal Sankaranarayanan: The terms have to be strictly complied with till the term of the contract which is till Dec. They cannot say that they will not comply just because the contract couldnt be renewed. I understand the problem if the tournament starts in Dec and stretches till after Dec. It is totally in AIFF hands.
Adv Neeraj Kaul: No one comes to these tournament on year to year basis. In one year 150 crores have been invested. The last year began in Dec 2024. Under the contract I should began the negotiation for next season. Today there are no new sponsors. We have suffered losses. To get in an arrangement I need some tenure. But it cant be that let continue for one year. There are logistics and huge issues involved.
Kaul: Atleast we can sit the AIFF to discuss. Give us a chance to figure out what can be worked out. Time to villify is over. When someone comes and say that perform your contract. I am performing I have practical problems which I am keeping here.
Kaul: We are genuinely interested in the sport. Let me just sit with them. I need 10 days to solve the issue
Another counsel: The players are not being payed they cannot do away with their present obligation if there is no renewal. They have invoked the force majeure clause.
The matter to be taken up on 28th August at 1:15PM.

SG: My only point is that lawyers need to be protected they are part of the justice delivery system and if they are involved in the commission of an offence....

CJI: No that we have made clear if the lawyer advises to tamper with evidence and all then 201 is there #SupremeCourtofIndia #SupremeCourt @dir_ed
SG: Your Lordships are custodian of the legal profession.

CJI: We are custodian of the entire nation.

Sr Adv Sidharth Luthra: This concerns access to justice. Yesterday, an FIR was filed against a lawyer because the client claimed they hadn’t authorised him despite having a notarised document. Can such things happen?

Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, is set to deliver an insightful lecture at the Sikkim Judicial Academy. Stay tuned for highlights from this esteemed legal event!

Sibal: Before I begin, I want to clarify that what I say today is as a citizen, not in my role as SCBA President. Ultimately, the goal is to uphold democracy.

Sibal: Law doesn’t inherently mean justice. Regarding the subordinate judiciary, the term ‘subordinate’ is a misnomer. Under the Constitution’s chapter on subordinate courts, it’s confused with subordinate judiciary—yet, no court is truly subordinate.

#KapilSibal #LegalInsights #JudicialLecture #SupremeCourtBar #SikkimJudicialAcademy #IndianLaw #LegalCommunity
Sibal: The roots of this concept trace back to the Simon Commission, which emphasized the need for judges who are both competent and just. This can only be achieved if citizens have confidence in the judiciary. The true test lies in whether the general public trusts the system.

Sibal: If people lack confidence in the judiciary... Back in 1934, a Joint Select Committee was established to reform the Indian Constitution.
