“Were you in any way involved in the plot to kill your ex husband?” Cappleman asked.
“No,” Wendi Adelson said.
“What information do you have regarding your mother’s involvement in the plot to kill your ex-husband?” Cappleman said.
“I have no information,” Wendi Adelson said.
“I was not involved in any plot to kill Danny,” Wendi Adelson added as Cappleman persisted with tough questioning.
Cappleman asked whether Wendi was considered a suspect. No, she said.
"You mentioned nine times in your law enforcement interview being a suspect," Cappleman said.
"I did yeah," Wendi Adelson replied.
Wendi Adelson said she learned that Dan Markel had been shot after getting into a Tallahassee police squad car before she was interviewed at headquarters.
"I told law enforcement to search my phone, search my computer, search my house, search my car," Wendi Adelson said. "I was trying to be helpful."
"If your mom wasn't capable of it, did she have anyone that she could have assist her?" Cappleman asked.
"I don't know," Wendi Adelson replied.
Georgia Cappleman asked Wendi Adelson about TPD Investigator asking her if the perpetrators should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
"I think I was hoping it wasn't anyone in my family so the idea that it was someone in my family gave me pause," Wendi Adelson said.
Wendi Adelson earlier testified that she hasn't talked to her mom since November 2023, the same month she was arrested in the murder at Miami International Airport as she tried to board one-way flight to Vietnam.
Donna Adelson lawyer Jackie Fulford cross-examining Wendi Adelson. She's asking about the first time she met Katie Magbanua, around March or April of 2014. She said she and Jeffrey Lacasse, her then-boyfriend, were with Charlie Adelson and Magbanua.
Fulford asking about all three of the Adelson kids, the oldest son, Rob, the middle child, Charlie, and the "baby," Wendi Adelson.
Fulford asking about Donna Adelson. "I think you once described her as being kind, empathetic & very loving and sensitive person?"
"I don't recall that," Wendi Adelson said. "But that sounds right."
"That she radiates positivity?" Fulford continued.
"Yes," Wendi Adelson replied.
Wendi Adelson testifies her family lived in Coral Springs and the dental institute was in nearby Tamarac. Her parents got a place in Miami where they would stay on weekends.
"Before the divorce, there were times when you had a happy marriage?" Fulford asked.
"Yes," Wendi said.
"You all enjoyed spending time together and with your children?" Fulford asked.
"Yes," she said.
"Even your parents would come up & spend time with you?"
"Yes," Wendi said.
"During the time you were with Danny, your mother was always kind to him?" Fulford asked.
"Yes," Wendi Adelson said.
Fulford asking about emails and texts from Donna Adelson. "The communication on paper, which was very different from the communication in person," Wendi Adelson replied.
"Not one single time did she ever suggest in writing or to you personally that Danny deserved to be harmed?" Fulford asked.
"Never," Wendi said.
"Never said he needed to be killed?" Fulford asked.
"Never."
"Never suggested any harm to him in any way?"
"Never," Wendi replied.
Fulford is asking about the so-called $1 million bribe the Adelsons talked about giving to Markel. Wendi Adelson testifies the money wasn't for him to give up the kids or for some illegal act but rather for him to relocate with the kids to Miami.
Wendi Adelson, testified that she interviewed for a job with a Miami law firm in October or November of 2023, when she was still a professor at FSU. In December, the firm made her an offer. She said it would have been "more secure" money because she worked under a grant at FSU.
Wendi Adelson testified she never tried to take custody of the kids "completely" away form Markel.
"Did you always want him to be a big part of their life?" Fulford asked.
"Of course," Wendi Adelson replied.
Jury leaving the courtroom ...
Fulford asking Wendi Adelson about her dad Harvey Adelson's 70th birthday party. Her mom planned it, was trying to make it a surprise. "I didn't pay for anything," Wendi Adelson said.
Fulford asks about an email that Harvey Adelson forwarded to Wendi Adelson about the appointment for her TV to get fixed. "It says, 'Love, Dad,' " Fulford says.
One question on the Best Buy appointment form asked, "Would you be willing to accept a sooner appointment if one becomes available and the answer is yes," Wendi Adelson said.
Wendi said her sons were almost 5 and 3 1/2 years old at the time of their dad's murder.
Fulford asks Wendi Adelson about signing the older son up for kindergarten and asking the school to use the last name Markel on the form. She said she believed that was so. She asked the school to use Adelson.
"That's what you wanted them to go forward with?" Fulford asked.
"I thought it would make them safer," Wendi Adelson replied.
Jackie Fulford asks Wendi Adelson about her testimony that her mom "hated" Markel around the time of his death. Fulford notes Donna Adelson baby-sat the week before and made him banana bread.
"But you think she hated him?" Fulford asked.
"I think she was mad at him," Wendi said.
"There's a difference between being mad at someone and hating them, isn't there?" Jackie Fulford asked.
"There is," Wendi Adelson replied.
Fulford asks Wendi Adelson about an April 2023 email in which she says she's been "coming to a place" in which she realizes she wants to keep her job at FSU.
"Tallahassee isn't ever where I wanted to live," Wendi Adelson said in the email, "but it's where the job is and it's where the boys' father is, which means they don't have to be constantly flying on planes or driving in cars to accomplish our custody situation."
Fulford asks Wendi Adelson about the relocation hearing and the judge’s denial of her motion.
“It was never an issue from the day it was decided on July 31st, 2013,” Wendi testified.
That’s the end of the discussion about relocation right?” Fulford asked.
“Yes,” Wendi said.
Wendi Adelson testified she stipulated to having her motion denied with prejudice, which meant she couldn't bring it up in court again.

Jackie Fulford, a former top prosecutor in the State Attorney's Office who served as a Leon Circuit judge before her involuntary retirement in 2015, is giving the defense's opening statement.
"You heard an awful lot about what other people did in this case, but not a single piece of evidence was discussed that shows Donna Adelson planned this, hired anybody to do this or intended for it to happen," Fulford said.
"We're going to have a long trial. It's going to be long and we're going to have days. And you're going to hear a lot of evidence ... But I want to ask you to never ever stop thinking for the two weeks or two and a half weeks we're here about why we're really here."

The murder trial of Donna Adelson is set to continue at 8:30 a.m. today, when lawyers were told by the judge to report to the courtroom. Jurors should be in Courtroom 3G not long after that for opening statements and the first of the state's witnesses.
The state is expected to roughly follow the sequencing of witnesses in past trials. That means Wendi Adelson, Donna Adelson's daughter and the ex-wife of Dan Markel, may take the stand today. She was subpoenaed by the state and will testify with immunity, as she has previously.
