The brain is a pattern recognition machine so if your internal dialogue is negative then your reality is going to be negative as that’s all you’re going to be able to notice (and vice versa)
And if you ever catch your brain being negative to yourself, it’s important to quickly write it off as “just a silly intrusive thought” and replace whatever negative shit you just said about yourself with something that aligns with who you want to be
And often these negative thoughts are necessary, it’s our brain’s self-defense mechanism to let us know that we’re straying from the correct path
Important to just recognize those thoughts, digest them for what they are and what actions need to be taken, then quickly recognize that it’s not your reality
Extremely simple example of this framework
Action: You slept in way later than you know you should have for days on end
Thought: “Holy shit i’m a fucking loser why am I waking up so late”
Digest and process that initial thought for what it is, that’s your brains self-defense mechanism, it lets you know when you’re fucking up
Then recognize that you’re not a loser, you’re just a loser in that moment, accept it
Then quickly replace it with the positive
“I’m that guy, I just need to lock in, this is just a bump in the road”
BASICALLY just act like the version of yourself that you want to become and stop treating that version of you like some ideal distant future
