🌏We Stand With All Victorians - Especially Multicultral & Diverse Communities
We stand with all Victorians - especially those from our proud multicultural and diverse communities - who are concerned about the rallies across Australia planned for Sunday 31st August, and the motivations of the people who organised them.
Our message is clear - whoever you are, whoever you love, whoever you pray to – you are welcome here in Victoria - just like every other victorian.
You deserve peace, safety and respect.
Victoria Police are aware of the planned march tomorrow and a significant police presence is expected.
We are always alert - but we are not scared.
As the son of migrant parents, I proudly stand with all like-minded Victorians, including our culturally and linguistically diverse communities who completely reject racism and hate.
To hear me previously stand up in Parliament against hate, fear and division via our anti-vilification reforms, see 👉🏽
To hear me call out right wing extremism via our reforms to ban the Nazi Salute and Nazi Symbols, see 👉🏽
To hear me champion and advocate on behalf of our vibrant multicultral communities who continue to help build a diverse and resilient Victoria, check out 👉🏽
To hear me support a more equal and inclusive Victoria for all, see 👉🏽

However people who are vilified for other reasons are currently not protected by laws 📜
That’s why we’ve been consulting on a number of proposed changes, to expand and strengthen Victoria’s laws to prevent and deter vilification on the grounds of;
🧒🏽👩🏻Race, religious belief or activity all of which will continue to be protected
💻📱Real Action - Social Media Age Limits & Protecting Young People
As a local dad, I understand and appreciate first-hand many of the concerns parents have raised with me regarding the impacts and harm of social media on the health and well-being of young people.
That’s why I’m proud the Victorian Government has announced it will work with the Commonwealth and South Australia to push back against the social media-tech giants to protect young people.
In partnership, consultation will be undertaken with schools, parents and children to help shape national legislation, with consultation and feedback to consider proposed key reforms, models and approaches such as👇🏽
