@mikejwhelan Insurance companies have a template of making money any way possible and that includes either refusing claims or adding many layers of having a simple claim accepted hoping the person will give up. Example: I've had my vehicle damaged. We have a provincial govt. based vehicle 1/2
@mikejwhelan insurance for which I pay nearly $1,000 annually. I never have claims but did notice damage to my vehicle - a scratch, not my fault; so filed a claim. Now instead of their having agents assess damage, it's the body shop. No need to wonder if they don't assess to make as much 2/3
@mikejwhelan money as possible. My claim is about a long white thin scratch along most of the passenger side of my Rav. I placed the claim and went to the body shop about 4 weeks ago, who sends their report to the insurance company and with one claim I have a $300 deductible. The agent 3/4
@mikejwhelan (male) who calls me yesterday, tells me there need to be 3 claims for dents and other 'work' needed on that side of my vehicle. So quotes me $900. Over 40 minutes of conversation where I have to tell him 4 times where the scratch is (was he not listening the first time?) plus 4/5
@mikejwhelan he has the photographs so why is he asking me? Also over the 40 minutes, he changes the word, 'dents,' to 'dings,' and then to 'marks.' I then inform him how those words are not synonyms. (wondering if he knows the meaning of that word) I also ask him why the assessors were 5/6
@mikejwhelan removed from the non-biased claim reports and he answers my 'why' question with, "it was management." I counter that with, "I asked you why, not who was responsible." Then I hear, "It speeds up the process." As I'd had a few claims in the past with their assessors, there were 6/7
@mikejwhelan no delays (my vehicle had been rear-ended when I was totally stopped; so 100% not my fault) and my vehicle was repaired within 3 weeks. So, told him how now I'd been waiting about 6 weeks for any resolution. Finally he says. I'll have to send this up to my Manager as I insist 7/8
@mikejwhelan I only want the scratch fixed which is about 4 ft in length. Guess it will be another few weeks before I hear back. What I am going to do it go to another body shop and ask what they would charge to fix the scratch and see what they say. So much for insurance, is right, Micheal.

Story from my life: So driving along a residential street, I see a lone miniature collie cross the street obviously lost and quickly turned right to park and see if it would stop for me as I got out and called the dog over. After a bit of looking at me, finally did. Another lady
had stopped on the other side of the road thinking was I was and that the dog was lost. Wearing a collar and tags, I was able to hold the collar and read out the multiple phone numbers on the tag to the other woman but no one answered any of the calls and she did text a few too
with no response. I'd guess while I am talking to the dog, whose name is Miller, she made phone calls over about 20 minutes. No luck and I'm thinking if the dog would get in my vehicle, I'd take him to my former veterinarian's office and see if he is micro-chipped. Then an older
Reason for this is: A few weeks ago, a very nice male resident in our smaller condo complex who owns a friendly dog was alone & was talking to another dog owner here with her dog who bit him when he went to pat the dog. He needed stitches to his hand. This dog is a Husky type.
The man told me later when I saw the bandage on his hand what had happened. He said the female owner said the dog hadn't been well at the time & so he was willing to let 'it' go. He said she apparently was going to muzzle her dog in future and take it to 'classes.' This evening I
saw her and the dog which was muzzled. I let her know I heard what had happened. I love dogs and it was leashed and so I called to it. It came over and as I went to pat it, the dog had he/she? went to bite me. I wasn't due to the muzzle. Did startle me though. She again said her
@BamaSaltyMarine I worked as a Critical Care RN with many shifts in a Coronary Care Acute unit, in ER & an Open Heart Post Op ICU. 1) Denial is a symptom of a heart attack. People try to blame it on indigestion, gall bladder, fatigue. It's usually not if left/central crushing chest pain.
1/2
@BamaSaltyMarine 2) Pain is only a symptom when there is over 90% blockage of a coronary artery. 3) Cholesterol build-up in arteries forms and becomes solid preventing the artery from expanding when needed with exertion and more oxygen is needed for the heart muscle and the body. Arteries 2/3
@BamaSaltyMarine can expand up to 10% of the original diameter. Smoking actually causes contraction of the arteries. 4) The blood of cholesterol built up arteries is through pin holes, not the middle part and thus if those pin holes close totally, this is why even with a cardiac arrest from 3/4
@1MikeMorris They also make Frozen Yogurt in different flavours. Would you believe this: I'm caffeine sensitive++, aware of this from high heart rate reaction happening after drinking a lot coffee one day decades ago. They have a Chocolate Espresso Frozen Yogurt. Love it but usually only 1/2
@1MikeMorris have a few tablespoons each time as mix with Vanilla yogurt. One night over a month ago had a big bowl of it. Within 5 minutes my normal heart rate of about 68/min. jumped up to 120 beats per minute. As an RN (now retired) who worked in Critical Care, I know a lot about 2/3
@1MikeMorris heart function. Had no idea what had caused this as was sitting at my table using a laptop. Did carotid massage on my neck to reduce it to only 100 and was totally otherwise asymptomatic. After an hour it was 88 and in 2 hours was back to normal. I looked at the ingredients 3/4
Novavax update: Today I received a specific email from Sanofi about the Novavax vaccine for 2025 fall: named Nuvaxovid which targets a JN.1 strain. Quote: "Please note that we do not plan to bring Nuvaxovid® to the Canadian market for the upcoming 2025 fall season at this time."
The email stated the transition of the Novavax to Sanofi company in Canada is still ongoing. Perhaps once the transition is complete in the next weeks this June/July, there will be reconsidering of providing Nuvaxovid to Canadians. I have once again called the company to inquire
if this may be happening. I still believe with enough public pressure on our governments provincially the need for this vaccine must be acknowledged and thus orders for this vaccine may be made. IF it is being made available to other countries, why not Canada? I've requested a
My update on Novavax inquiry with the Sanofi Pharmaceutical company contact # in Canada. This afternoon I made 3 1-800 calls. With the first at a general customer service #, she was not able to answer my questions; was transferred to a second person at a medical professional
inquiry # but after about 10 minutes, the call got disconnected. It happens sometimes. I then called back at the same # for the medical menu choice and had a good conversation with a male representative. He typed my four questions to be forwarded to the correct individual to
reply either by email or phone. My questions were: 1) Is the company working on a new formula of Novavax now for the 2025-2026 Covid booster season considering the new variant? 2) With the last production of Novavax how long is it before the expiration of that specific formula
