🧵Thread : Jambudvīpa – The Forgotten Geography of the Ancient World 🌍🕉️
1️⃣
Our Puranas & Itihasas don’t just tell stories.
They describe the entire geography of the world in a cosmic way.
At the center of it all: Jambudvīpa, the landmass surrounded by ocean, divided into 9 Varshas (regions). Let’s explore 👇
2️⃣
🔹 What is Jambudvīpa?
According to Sanatan Dharma, Earth is divided into 7 continents (Dvipas).
The most important? → Jambudvīpa, the central land of humans, devas & great civilizations.
Yes - our “world map” was drawn thousands of years ago!
4.✨ Bharata Varsha = Our land, where karma, dharma & moksha are possible.
That’s why scriptures say being born in Bharat is rare fortune.
Other Varshas were realms of higher beings, semi-divine humans, yogis & siddhas.
5️⃣
🔹 Ilavrita Varsha – located around Mount Meru (North Pole region).
Considered the cosmic center, where Lord Shiva & Parvati reside.
Mount Meru is described as the spiritual axis of the world the connection between heaven & earth.
6️⃣
🔹 Hari Varsha – land blessed by Bhagwan Narasimha.
🔹 Kuru Varsha – land of dharmic people, often linked to higher realms near the Arctic.
🔹 Ketumala Varsha – some equate it with the Western world (Europe).
Ancient maps align surprisingly with modern continents!
7️⃣
🔹 Kimpurusha Varsha – land of Kimpurushas (celestial beings).
🔹 Ramyaka Varsha – associated with great yogis.
🔹 Hiranmaya & Bhadrasva Varshas – mystical lands mentioned in Puranas.
These weren’t just “mythical” – they represented spiritual geographies.
8️⃣
Modern historians dismiss this as “myth.”
But think: How did ancient rishis know of continents, oceans & poles thousands of years ago? 🌍
Sanatan Dharma saw Earth not just physically but spiritually, cosmically, energetically.
9️⃣
Jambudvīpa shows us:
🌏 Geography = not just land & water.
🌿 It is dharma, karma, spiritual evolution.
Each Varsha = a realm of consciousness.
Earth = a living spiritual map.

🧵Jambudweep: The Lost Map of Bharatvarsh from Vishnu Puran
Before Google Maps, our Rishis mapped the world. They called it Jambudweep - the grand island of humanity.
Let's decode this sacred geography of Bharat.👇Thread 🧵
1️⃣
📜 What is Jambudweep?
In Puranic cosmology, Earth’s central continent is Jambudweep.
It’s divided into 9 regions - with Bharatvarsh at the heart.
🌏 विष्णु पुराण के अनुसार जम्बूद्वीप ही मानव सभ्यता का केंद्र है।
2️⃣
🇮🇳 Bharatvarsh: Land of Dharma
Jambudweep’s most sacred land is Bharatvarsh. It’s here that avatars, rishis & dharma descended. Here, every river, mountain, and forest holds divine stories.
🔱 भारतवर्ष – सनातन धर्म की भूमि, अवतारों की कर्मभूमि।
🧵 Thread: “Nalanda was just the tip of the iceberg…”
Ancient BHARAT was the education capital of the world.
Before Oxford. Before Harvard. Before Cambridge.
Let’s explore the forgotten University Empire of Bharatvarsha 👇
1. Takshashila (15th BCE – 5th CE)
The world's first known university.
• 10,000+ students
• 60+ subjects
• Alumni: Chanakya, Charaka, Panini
Students came from Greece, China, Babylon - for ज्ञान.
2. Nalanda (5th BCE – 12th CE)
9 million manuscripts.
10,000 students. 2,000 teachers.
A 3-storey library called “Dharmaganja” - unmatched in the world.
Burned by Bakhtiyar Khilji - it smouldered for months.
👩🦱 Whether she wears a saree, jeans, hijab, or nothing more than tradition allowed centuries ago…
A woman’s character is NOT defined by her clothes.
🧵 A thread on perception, patriarchy, and respect:
1.From ancient temples where women were carved in divine forms…
…to modern times where women cover themselves in fear or choice,
One truth remains:
Character is not in clothing.
2. Clothing is cultural.
In ancient temples, women were sculpted with minimal clothing — celebrated as divine embodiments of beauty, fertility, and power.
Nobody questioned their dignity.
