$MSTR not being included into the S&P 500 is a hot topic right now. Despite qualifying for inclusion, the company was not added to the list. This is because the list is not defined only by strict criteria, but by a committee of unknown members. 👀👀

🚨 Curious about what it takes to join the S&P 500? Here’s the rundown:

• 🇺🇸 U.S.-based company, listed on NYSE/NASDAQ
• 💰 Min. $18B market cap
•📈 Positive earnings (last quarter + past 4 quarters)
•💧 High liquidity (annual trading value ≥ float-adjusted cap)
•📊 50%+ public float
•🏭 Balanced sector representation
•🏢 No limited partnerships or trusts (REITs okay!)

The company S&P Global sells market intelligence, financial data/research, and also maintains various indices, including the very popular S&P 500, but they have others as well that track other market sectors.
The other big index, the Dow (aka Dow Jones Industrial Average) is maintained by News Corp (yes, Fox/Rupert Murdoch).

But what I really wanted to get across here is that the committee that selects companies for inclusion to S&P 500 is
1) run by people that are not publicly identifiable
2) able to delay inclusion despite a company meeting those criteria
3) 'overseen' by the SEC and other regulatory agencies

'Overseen' in quotes bc we don't know who they are, can't see the SEC reporting that they do, can't verify how much ₿ they may have or short, or MSTR or options plays on MSTR for that matter.

We are 'trusting' that the overlays in the system are working to keep the investing public safe.

Verify, don't trust.

₿ is inevitable.
It is NGU tech.
MSTR being the biggest public company holder of ₿ nearly guarantees their long term success.

But shareholders ARE trusting that the company will continue to execute.

I think MSTR will continue to perform, and that it will be 'too big to ignore' eventually by the S&P inclusion committee, much like TSLA was excluded but eventually included. TSLA met criteria in July 2020 but wasn't included until Dec 2020.
