1. The FBI Director is a CEO. $11 billion budget and nearly 30k employees. In situations like this one, his job is to lead the law enforcement agents and bring resources to bear.
2. BASELINE: the guy was caught in 3 days. For context, it took 5 days to find Luigi. Many people say the FBI didn't play a role in catching him. That's completely devoid of understanding how this works. By the end of this thread, you'll see this doesn't happen with out Kash.
3. RESOURCES: So how did Kash do at bringing resources?
-Agents were on the scene in 16 minutes. There's no 911 for FBI. But they were there almost immediately.
-The FBI immediately launched planes with specialty technicians and the elite Hostage Rescue Team.
4. Resources continued:
- These planes were then used to expedite transporting evidence to the world's best crime labs at the FBI and ATF. No wasting time through the usual transport.
-By 10am the next morning the FBI had found, analyzed, and released photos of the killer.
5. Resources continued:
- Yeah, photos were released LESS THAN 24 HOURS later. There were thousands of people at this event. Presumably there are at least dozens of fixed cameras in the area plus hundreds of cell phone cameras. Do you know what a massive undertaking that is?
6. Resources continued:
- Someone had to find all of those cameras, find the footage from them, and watch all of it until they found the guy.
-They had to eliminate every. single. other. person in the footage.
- 22 hours. That's basically wizardry.
7. Resources continued:
*I'll get into the strategy behind the photos shortly.
-Then by 10:45am the FBI announced a $100,000 reward.
-By 5:30pm Kash and Dan were on the scene and you didn't even know it.
8. Resources continued:
-Why was Kash there? To see what additional resources were needed and execute on that.
- Keep in mind 3 things: 1. this was an active crime scene. Kash has a large security detail. He had to give LEO space to work before he showed up.
9. Strategy:
This is where it gets really interesting.
First, understand that in these scenarios there is no magic button. No super computer that immediately identifies the killer. This is not a movie.
10. Strategy: This is a game of cat and mouse. Everything that happens is about finding the killer. It's a chess game to preempt moves of the assassin and drive them into your trap. The killer could go on the run, you have to smoke them out.
11. Strategy: Yes, the FBI DOES have advanced technology. But, you know what works?
The old tried and true methods. Shoe leather hitting the bricks law enforcement. And that's what worked here.
12. Strategy: Here's why it's important that they found the photos so quickly. Sure, there are cameras everywhere today. But, humans have eyes and work far better than cameras. People see everything. Humans are better than tech.
13. Strategy: So, you have to give the killer a sense that every human, every eye, every person that has ever scene them will identify them. And you hope that they do. You WANT the killer to hide, not run.
14. Strategy: You want to keep the killer's photo in the media at all times. You release multiple batches of photos so that it's constantly shared on social and covered on the news. Put out a reward so that the killer knows people want to turn him in.
15. Strategy: Who directed that strategy? KASH PATEL. Yea, KASH directed the FBI to release the photos. And the killer was caught BECAUSE OF THAT STRATEGY.
16. Explainer: Now a quick explanation before more strategy. Kash has a few commandments for the FBI in his role as it's CEO. The two most important here are: 1. Let good cops be cops. 2. Partner with State and Local. Remember that one.
17. Explainer: I know these commandments intimately because I worked with him on it during the Presidential Transition. I ran his confirmation. And I spent every. waking. hour. with him working through this for months. I know the purpose of these commandments.
18. Explainer: You can see in the above details how Kash "let good cops be cops". And when he had the opportunity to take a victory lap in the presser, what's the first thing he said? "this is what happens when you let good cops be cops." Giving law enforcement the credit.
19. Strategy: Okay, back to the strategy. At 8pm last night, there was a press conference in which the FBI released more photos and video of the killer.
People criticized Kash for not saying anything in that press conference.
20. Strategy: These criticisms lack any understanding.
Kash is a media star:
A. if he spoke at the press conference, the media would have covered him. THE GOAL IS TO GET THEM TO COVER THE KILLER. His image EVERYWHERE.
21. Strategy:
B. Kash stood quietly in the back, letting state and local leaders speak. The FBI has a reputation of taking over. (You've seen it in movies.) Kash was leading by example. He showed support, but didn't take over. Genuine partnership with state and local.
22. Strategy:
State and local law enforcement have the relationships with the community. That's what it was going to take to find this killer -- remember it's about humans being the eyes and ears. People talk to cops they trust.
23. Strategy:
And guess what? IT WORKED.
2 HOURS LATER this killer was in the custody of the local police in St. George, Utah. Show me another FBI Director who understands this?
24. Strategy:
Kash brought the resources, he brought the strategy, he led by example, and his plan fuckin worked. So, yes, like @realchrisrufo I'm glad Utah authorities captured the killer. Could it have happened without Kash's leadership? Not so fast.
@realchrisrufo 25. Next up: Really quickly I want to share some perspective on the FBI as a whole. And then, I’ll get a little spicy responding to Rufo’s post at the end.
@realchrisrufo 26. Broadly: Now that you know the role the FBI and Kash played in catching the assassin, let's apply that broadly to the FBI. 4 days ago we were all grieving the savage murder of Ilyan and general violent crime.
@realchrisrufo 27. Broadly:
Under Kash the FBI HAS DOUBLED the arrests of violent criminals
Oh, and the monster that stabbed her? Yeah, the state and local let him go 14 times so Kash found a way to hit him with federal charges.
@realchrisrufo 28. Broadly:
He also nabbed the cofounder of the Sinola cartel.
I can't even keep up with how many top 10 most wanted he's caught.
And let's not forget the CCP fentanyl traffickers he busted.
29. Criticism: Now that you see the big picture, let's go back to Rufo's post. "He performed terribly" Really? How so? No substantive argument. "Not clear whether he has the operational expertise to investigate, infiltrate, and disrupt the violent movements" the above indicates he DOES.
@realchrisrufo 30. Criticism: "I've been on the phone the last few days with many conservative leaders... none of whom are confident that the current structure of the FBI is up to this task."
This one really irks me. Yes, we all want to see the radical violent marxist left brought to justice.
@realchrisrufo 31. Criticism: Fine, question whether Kash is up to the job, but if you don't know how this stuff works you're not in a great position to judge his qualifications. Why are these so called conservative leaders calling each other to gossip about one of OUR GUYS who is in the arena?
@realchrisrufo 32. Criticism: I'm sure that Kash wants to dismantle violent marxists as much as any of us. Charlie was his friend. And it could have been any popular conservative figure. It could have been Kash in a different timeline.
@realchrisrufo 33. Final: I admire Chris Rufo. He's one of the most effective conservatives of our era. But, this one missed the mark. Kash did a great job and has been doing a great job. President Trump knew what he was doing when he picked Kash for the job.
@realchrisrufo 34 Final: There's so much more I could say, but this is already too long. I'll close with this: show me one person who is more aligned with us, who could do a better job, and get Senate confirmed?
8.5 (Part was deleted) 2. There was still a threat. The shooter was still at large. Was there more than one? Was this a group? Unknown at the time. Kash was certainly a recognizable target. But, he went to the area anyway. 3. If some other leaders had been brave enough to go, they would have told the media. There would have been pictures of them in tactical gear. NOT KASH. No spectacle. All business. There's a reason for that.

What is an American? Where do our rights come from?
TWO YEARS before the Declaration of Independence Thomas Jefferson wrote a document that was the foundation for the Declaration.
Why didn't they teach it to you in school? You may be quite surprised at what it says.
🧵
This document, which was presented to the First Continental Congress, was called
"A Summary View of the Rights of British Americans"
When read together with the Declaration, it has powerful answers to the questions of today, especially immigration. Let me show you:
FIRST, let's start with the Declaration. Did you know one of the grievances in the Declaration was that King George III obstructed immigration into the Colonies?
Seems like a big L for folks like me who are restrictionist on immigration. You say, "HAHA Stupid MAGA." But wait...
🧵The inside story of the Senate Leadership Election that MAY change the course of the nation.
Most following this know by now that Thune won 29-24 on the second ballot. But, how did that happen? Many of my followers wanted Scott. But, we got historic wins here.
1. First, what's at stake. We are in an era where "Regime Politics" is what matters. I couldn't care less about minor technical policy differences. We have threats to our American Regime -- our very existence as a nation, the essentials that make us America.
2. This includes things many understand. Whether we have a border, secure elections, a destitute sick population, a financial crisis, SECRET POLICE, LAWFARE against political opponents. Whether we have a nation run by unelected bureaucrats or by the people.
🧵The Senate leadership race. You could call me a Senate insider, I'll tell you the secrets. What you need to know:
First, I'll cover the basic facts about how it works.
Second, I'll share behind the scenes insights.
Third, what this means for the America First Mandate
1. The basic facts: the leadership election is set for Wednesday, Nov. 13th at 9:30am. 5 days from now. It's a SECRET ballot. As most already know, Sens Thune, Cornyn, and Rick Scott are running for Majority Leader.
2. Let's talk about the SECRET ballot. This is frustrating to many of us who want to know where Senators stand. But it's UNLIKELY TO CHANGE. Senators have to work together. If they publicly vote for the losing candidates, they could face reprisal or an icy relationship w/ winner.
I've worked in the Senate and conservative space in DC for over a decade. I'll tell you.
1. We have 4 years to save America. But, it's not really 4 years, it's more like 1.5 years for much of his agenda. Let me explain:
2. Much of what must be done can happen on the executive side. He can use all four years for that. BUT, that requires hiring employees to actually execute. The senior people in his administration will need to be confirmed by the SENATE.
3. Odds are republicans take the Senate in 2024. But the "map" of races that are up for 2026 isn't good for republicans. It could flip dem. That means Trump needs to get ALL of his people through the Senate in 2025 and 2026. Should be easy, right? NO.
