The land that gave the world Shaivism, Sanskrit scholarship & grand temples was turned into a graveyard of its own civilisation.
This is the story of Kashmir’s fall - from Shiva’s land to terror’s playground. 🧵👇
Kashmir was once called Sharda Peeth - the land of learning, Shaivism & Shankaracharya.
Temples dotted every corner, Sanskrit flourished, saints walked the valleys.
But today? The same land is haunted by Islamist terror & Hindu genocide. Here’s the story
For centuries, Kashmir was a Hindu majority region. The Pandits (original inhabitants) preserved Vedic traditions, Sanskrit literature & philosophy. Shankaracharya himself visited, leaving his name on the famous temple above Srinagar.
In 1339, Muslim rule began with Shah Mir. What followed? Centuries of forced conversions, temple destruction & massacres.
The brutal reign of Sikandar Butshikan (late 14th century) saw thousands of temples razed & Hindus given 3 choices: convert, die, or flee.
Despite persecution, Hindus still survived as a majority for long. Records show that until the late 19th century, Hindus were still a significant community in the Valley. By the early 20th century, they formed 15–20% of Kashmir’s population.
But the tide turned in 1947. Pakistan-backed tribal invaders unleashed slaughter in Baramulla, targeting Hindus & Sikhs. Thousands killed. Temples burnt. It was the first big demographic blow.
In 1990, the Kashmiri Hindu Genocide unfolded. Pandits were marked, threatened via mosque loudspeaker:
👉 “Leave, Convert, or Die.”
Thousands were killed. Women raped. Entire communities were forced to flee overnight.
Over 3,50,000 Hindus left their ancestral land.
From ~15% in 1941, Kashmiri Hindus are now less than 1% in the Valley.
A 5,000-year-old civilization reduced to refugees in their own country. This is ethnic cleansing in plain sight.
The tragedy? Kashmir, once called the “Land of Shiva,” became the playground of Islamist terrorists - nurtured across the border, financed with jihad, and fueled by the dream of erasing Hindu identity from the Valley.
Even today, the ruins tell the story.
👉 Martand Sun Temple stands desecrated.
👉 Shankaracharya Temple survives, scarred but proud.
👉 The Pandits remain in exile - their return uncertain.
The Fall of Kashmir is not just a regional tragedy. It’s a civilizationary warning.
If the land of Shiva could be emptied of Hindus - what stops the same story from repeating elsewhere?
Kashmir was, is, and will always be a Hindu land by origin. But reclaiming that truth requires remembering the betrayal, the genocide, and the silence of the world.
🧵
What just happened?
On 20 August 2025, Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2025, in the Lok Sabha.
1/10
Key objective: to allow the automatic removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, and other ministers who have been in custody for 30 consecutive days on charges involving offences punishable with ≥5 years imprisonment. No conviction required.
2/10
If a minister is detained for 30 consecutive days, the President (Union level) or Governor (State level) removes them on the advice of the Prime Minister or Chief Minister, respectively, by the 31st day.
If no advice is given, automatic removal kicks in.

Everyone knows about Noakhali & Direct Action Day.
But have you ever heard of the Kakdwip & Khulna riots of 1946–47?
Brutal massacres, forced conversions, and yet another page torn out from Bengal’s Partition history.
A forgotten truth !
1/7
After Direct Action Day (Calcutta, Aug 1946) - communal tensions spread everywhere
Noakhali (Oct 1946) was a turning point → Hindus massacred & displaced
In retaliation & chain reaction → violence spread to Khulna (now in Bangladesh) & Kakdwip (South 24 Parganas, Bengal)
2/7
Khulna Riots (1946):
Located in East Bengal (present-day Bangladesh).
Hindu minority faced targeted killings, rapes, and looting.
Entire villages destroyed, thousands fled across the border.
Forced conversions to Islam were reported in several villages.

October 1946.
Noakhali, East Bengal.
What happened here wasn’t a “riot.”
It was a planned genocide of Hindus by Islamist mobs - backed by Muslim League leaders.
History books whitewash it.
But Bengal remembers the Noakhali Genocide. 🧵
Reality of Gandhi included.

The spark?
Just weeks earlier, the Muslim League unleashed Direct Action Day in Calcutta.
Hindus were butchered in thousands.
No punishment followed.
That silence emboldened them.
The next target: Hindu villages of Noakhali & Tippera.
2/12
October 10, 1946.
On Lakshmi Puja day.
When Hindus were worshipping Maa Lakshmi, mobs of 30,000–40,000 armed Muslims stormed their villages.
Leaders: Ghulam Sarwar Hossain, Muslim League politician, & his clerics.
Battle cry: “Pakistan Zindabad! Hindu ka khoon zindabad!”
August 16, 1946.
Muslim League calls Direct Action Day.
What followed was the Great Calcutta Killings – Hindus butchered, homes looted, women dishonored.
But from the smoke & blood, one name roared like a lion:
Gopal Patha. 🧵
1/8
His real name? Gopal Chandra Mukherjee.
His trade? Goat meat.
That’s why they called him “Patha”.
But when Calcutta burned, this butcher became a warrior for the Hindu samaj.
2/8
On Direct Action Day, Hindu localities were under siege.
The Police looked away.
Leaders kept giving speeches.
But Gopal sharpened his dao (cleaver) & declared -
👉 “If they kill one Hindu, I’ll answer with ten!”
