Tons of people are commenting on this fit, many who have no real idea about men's clothes, or who don't really wear anything resembling this. I however dress basically like this every day so I will explain why this extremely simple fit is so great, so versatile, and so loved.
Something you've got to understand about this fit is that everything fits super loose and relaxed. If you are moving from tight fitting stuff to this it will feel shocking. Look at all that billowing under the arm, and look at how much extra fabric is around his waist.
Also check out where the yoke ends. It's way way over his shoulder. This is a classic 90s style kind of thing. I love this stuff, I get my shirts made with a pretty substantial yoke (though still a bit smaller than this) and it's great for comfortability. Game changer.
As for the actual shirt it looks like it's garment dyed. Another real 90s thing. Think Jerry Seinfeld shirts. Though this is better. A nice dark sage. Not easy to find these exact shirts OTR today.
Best bet is vintage eBay if you want all the details including that big yoke.
You can see me wearing similarly sized shirts here. Notice the full cut and also the yoke I mentioned. Also, note that I am wearing this linen shirt while golfing (and stuck in the deep rough, if that's what we want to call it). This kind of sizing is great for active life.
Next, take a look at these pants.
These are high rise pleated trousers with a very generous leg. Real hardcore beasts. Not so easy to find these these days.
These kinds of trousers are great for comfort. You know that thing when you sit down and the leg of your pants is strangling your thigh? Annoying! Yeah, you aren't going to have that problem with these.
Again, these will be shocking if you are moving from slimmer fits.
The sheer amount of extra fabric you see on his leg would put lots of guys off as thinking they are "too big" so if you want to get into this kind of style it may feel too large at first. Keep that in mind. Lots of style is psychological.
While these specific pants with pleats are not always so easy to find you can get full cut + high rise made in USA chinos pretty easy from Jack Donnelly. They have four different fit options and they are just awesome.
I love them.
Some shots in high rise full cut trousers. Again, notice the billowing shirt above the belt just like in the photo above.
Full fit all around. For a coherent silhouette you want to have top and bottom complement one another.
Two are pleats while the others are flat front.
Lastly, the watch.
I can't see all of it but it appears to be a fairly small watch.
This is what you want. Enough of the gaudy, stupid big watches. They look the opposite of elegant. And for God's sake no apple watches. If you throw an apple watch in here the whole fit dies.
A few shots of small, simple watches. All under 50 bucks. Old 90s Timex and simple Casios.
As for the belt, it isn't very interesting. Nothing really to say there. It's fine. Personally I really like braided leather belts, they give a nice nonchalant and approachable vibe and look really nice when they are a little "too long".
Finally, the biggest reason why this fit is so great is the comfort and relaxed feeling you get from it. It's not comfortable and relaxed in a idiocracy-like pajama pant croc wearing way. It's comfortable and relaxed in a dressed decently but not restricted sort of way.
Slim fit era strangled the body and it made people tense. The actual clothes were so constricting, no one appeared at ease or confident.
When you have enough fabric to comfortably move without all this tugging and pulling the signal is one of action.
Also, slim fit era made grown men look very boy-like. This kind of fuller fit looks more masculine and adult.
This is why women like it.
Additional note -
Everything is so simple, in that original fit. You don't have to stay that simple, but you also don't have to go crazy either.
Strong, confident, simple, classic, clean, traditional full fit, masculine.
That's the winning ticket.
Footnote -
I don't really do big long threads like this. I write a morning syle memo every morning on my S_Stack "The Fitting Room and work 1 on 1 with guys doing style coaching helping elevate their style getting them to where they want to be in their personal aesthetic.

He can't muster wearing anything other than the hoodie unless it is absolutely required. Just bottom of the barrel, end of the line, total degeneration. That is what you see.
This is totally honest. This is the spirit of 2023 Freakshow America incarnate.
If you don't think there is something off about this, if you think it is fine, if you think it is "good to change the dress codes" for politicians of the world hyper-power, the USA, so they can look like a kid in detention, you are lost.
Just to review, this guy is a politician in the most powerful empire of all time. This is how he dresses, and you have people who make excuses for it, and pretend "it's cool". Talk about degeneration and a slave mentality. Absolutely pitiful.
I was always more into style than most other American guys. I first was into Neo-Prep, then I got older, weaved here and there, when I lived in Europe/Med when I was younger I dressed in a more young kind of Euro style, to blend in.
When I had kids my idea became more clear.
When I was young, I always like style more but it was a bit more surface level. It was fun and I liked that. I wasn't applying as many deep levels to it. And that makes sense, I was really only feeling horizontally. Once I had kids I was able to feel more vertically.
I think that is a value of having children, it helps clarify some things more, it helps you start to feel in a different way. Without kids, I am not sure my idea would have become as clear or deep to me.
Men and women dressing like androgynous balls of slop have contributed to this problem. No one wants to pursue romance if everyone looks unattractive. Everyone just retreats farther into digital world.
Lots of men look like they believe appearance means nothing, that it has no impact on their attractiveness. Women generally don't want their man to put more effort into their appearance than they do, but most also don't want a guy who looks like a child who has given up.
It is not only because of the aesthetic, but also because of what it represents. It represents an attitude that isn't so attractive.
Here are two clear and direct reasons to care about personal aesthetics / clothing / personal presentation.
One reason is great and grand, the other reason is personal / close.
1 / Great & Grand
If you want to make a difference in act, you can do so immediately by saying something meaningful and strong through your clothing. You can talk about so many things till you are blue in the face, but with clothing and aesthetics we can make an idea physical. twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
You can say more than you ever could say in just one moment. You can impact other people's lives in countless ways and those ripples carry out, you impact people that you have no idea you have an impact on. You can inspire other men, you can show respect for those before you.
It is really hard to put your finger on, but I think you can kind of tell that actors from today don't feel as comfortable in jackets and ties as actors from the past. It makes sense. For actors in the past it wasn't that much of a costume. For actors today it actually is.
For actors today, when they wear a suit, tie, sport coat etc... it is almost a museum piece for them. For actors back then, these kinds of garments were familiar. No matter who they were, they spent more time in these kinds of clothes. It was present, not a thing of the past.
I think you can tell, you can see it, sense it. You can feel how comfortable Richard Burton is in the photo above. It is nothing to him, it is totally natural. He isn't even thinking about the suit, it is like it is himself.
Notice how plain everyone's clothes look compared to today. No neon colors, nothing nuclear loud. This is in the 70s which is considered wild in pattern and style by most. This is also a rough photo on the street, nothing nice and curated. It looks natural compared to today.
The clothing looks muted and organic, natural and honest compared to many sights you see on the street today.
There were crazy clothes in the 70s, wild style. We know this. But was it really worse than today? I don't think so. Our time is actually much more degenerated.
It is harder to see this because we are in this time now, but when you really zoom out, in terms of the spirit of clothing, today is much more inhuman and degenerated than it was then, by a long shot.
They were actually still largely using old formats just in wild ways.
