This part will deal with humanistic, syncretic, mystical and postmodern #occultism. As said before, the purpose of my thread is not to arouse an unhealthy curiosity into occultism rather an awareness to the #Christian people around the world so that they could discern what is of God and what is evil.
Let me reiterate before moving forwards into the thread. The #Christian faith teaches us that there is an ongoing spiritual warfare. #Occultism is one way by which the devil (Satan) takes unsuspecting people (and even the satanists) to his side.
Keeping this in mind, let me start.
🧵
Other than #Wicca, there are other neopagan faiths such as:
1⃣ Druidry/Neo-druidry - Druidry is a neopaganist faith, more inspired by the idea of #druids (basically those inspired by #Celtic mysticism and #nature worship).
2⃣ Heathenry/Asatru - Heathenry is #Germanic/#Norse neopaganism.
3⃣ Hellenism - #Greek neopaganism.
4⃣ Rodnovery, Romuva, Dievturiba - Rodnovery is #Slavic neopaganism. The latter two represent the #Baltic neopaganist faiths.
5⃣ Roman revivalism - Revivals of #Roman paganism such as Nova Roma, Religio Romana.
6⃣ Celtic reconstructionism - #Celtic reconstructionism is a neopaganist faith, with a focus on #Celtic mythology.
Two occult faiths under syncretic occultism include #voodoo (otherwise known as vodou) and #santeria.
About #Voodoo -->
An Afro-Caribbean faith, derived from the Fon "vodu", meaning spirit/deity. It was founded during the 17th-18th centuries in Haiti with origins in the West African vodun, practiced by the Fon and Yoruba peoples. Over time, it blended with Catholicism, where saints were known as “masks” for African spirits.
Believers of the voodoo faith believe in a supreme creator, known as bondye. Along with this, they interact with certain spirits – known as lemiste (known as loa/lwa – of which there are thousands of such spirits), lemo (the dead) and lemarasa (the sacred twins)
Certain famous examples of lwa include ezili and damballa. after death of the believer, one part of man’s spirit goes to bondye and the other goes to gine (a sort of African spiritual homeland). the believers of #voodoo also believe in reincarnation.
Spirits are summoned ritually by drums. The “lwa” are said to possess worshippers, speaking and acting through them. Ritual offerings are made to appease the spirits. Divination and sorcery are used for protection, healing, luck, direction and inflicting harm on enemies.
#Voodoo’s beliefs and practices are based on oral traditions. they vary from place to place. Hence there's no written scripture.
Veves – (like the one you can see in the intricate design on the left of the slide) are ritual symbols representing specific lwa.
About #Santeria -->
Meaning in Spanish, “way of the saints” (synonymous with lucumi, Regla de Ocha), #Santeria was derived from the religion of the Yoruba people of Africa.
The original believers were brought to #Cuba as slaves. over time, this blended with Catholicism. Believers of the santeria believe in a supreme creator, known as olodumare/olofi. Along with this, they interact with certain spirits – known as orishas (considered as lesser deities) and spirits of the dead (including ancestors, slaves, gypsies and Indians).
The main orishas are known as Siete Potencias Africanas (seven African powers), each with its own mythology. Ashe is considered a cosmic “energy”. Others include Shango, Yemaya et cetera. Eleggua (the one you're seeing on the left part of the slide) is a famous orisha, representing trickster/messenger.
Jesus is considered as “a great sorcerer”. #Santeria additionally believes in reincarnation.
Diviners resort to cowrie shell divination (diloggun) that predicts guidance from orishas. Ritual offerings are made to appease the spirits.
Various stones (otanes), necklaces (elekes), talismans, herbs and plants are used. Animal blood sacrifices (mainly goats and chickens) are used during spirit possessions.
#Santeria’s beliefs and practices are based on oral traditions. They vary from place to place.
🛑Watch out for the veves/cowrie shells, they are most likely #voodoo/#santeria or other syncretic occult faiths!
🚨#Voodoo rituals, #santeria rituals, “voodoo dolls” (no connection to Voodoo in any way), “#zombies”, #hoodoo (a form of folk magic in the southern USA), tambor de mina, #candomblé, #macumba, #umbanda.
🚨 “Botanicas” shops where #Santeria-related products are sold, remains of animal sacrifices and offerings left, cowrie shells, hoodoo poppet (doll-like figures).
🚨 Black magic movements such as #abakua, #petro, #palo monte/palo #mayombe.
Next coming to humanistic occultist movements. The famous one among them is the theosophical movement.
About #theosophy -->
#Theosophy comes from the Greek word, theosophos, meaning “one wise about God” or “divine wisdom”. Founded by Helena P. Blavatsky. She later founded the Theosophical Society in New York, with Henry S. Olcott. years later, they shifted to India, and it grew quickly there.
An inner circle exists in the theosophical societies, where they engage in secret meditation practices to attune its members with the Masters. this concept of Masters will be explained in the forthcoming posts.
Certain famous followers were known such as Frances Hodgson Burnett (The Secret Garden), L. Frank Baum (The Wizard of Oz) and W.B Yeats.
“Ancient wisdom” teachings in theosophy hold that world’s religions originally taught the same core truths but were corrupted by the development of organized religion. The oldest scriptures (the Hindu Vedas) contained the truths and others carried parts of this core, as listed in the key beliefs.
Earth undergoes an evolutionary progress and is continuous for thousands of years by a seven-tiered hierarchy of Masters (superior beings, known as mahatmas) – which has clear origins in the Hindu cosmology (seven planes of existence, seven rays), Buddhist ideas of enlightened beings (known as bodhisattvas), with Western esoteric ideas (from #hermeticism, #rosicrucianism and #neoplatonism).
#Psychic powers are emphasized here, especially the access to mystic “Akashic Records”, which is like a cosmic memory bank/soul library. Akasha is a Sanskrit term meaning space.

2⃣Isis Unveiled (1877)
3⃣The Key to Theosophy (1889)

Key beliefs include (not exhaustive) --
1⃣ Universal brotherhood
2⃣ Spiritual evolution, astral projection, astrology
3⃣ Great White Brotherhood
4⃣ Law of cause and effect (known as karma)
5⃣ Unity of all religions
6⃣ Reincarnation
More about the beliefs in #theosophy.
The number “seven” seems to be an important way for the theosophists to divide on basis of rays, planes, planetary periods (remember Rosicrucian?) and choices.
The Great White Brotherhood/Ascended Masters are explained as seven rays/planes –>
▪️Lord of the world – Manu (1st chohan) supervises – strength is personified.
▪️Buddha – Bodhisattva (2nd chohan) supervises – wisdom is personified.
The five other rays, supervised by “mahachohan” – adaptability, beauty, science, devotion and ordered service/ritual are personified.
The three great offices are held by Manu, Bodhisattva and Mahachohan. Chohan means “master” and mahachohan means “great master”.
Master El Morya is the representative of the 1st head of ray, Maitreya for the 2nd level, astrologists (Venetian Chohan, unnamed) represent the 3rd level, Serapis Bey (connected to ancient Egypt) for the 4th level, Hilarion (postulated reincarnation of St. Paul), for the 5th level, Jesus (mentioned as an incarnation of Apollonius of Tyana) in the 6th level (along with Ramanujacharya) and Comte de St. Germain (Francis Bacon/Rosenkreuz et cetera) for the 7th level. then other masters (such as Koot Hoomi, Djwhal Khul) below that and finally the disciples.
#Theosophy rejects Jesus’ atonement and states that man brings about his own salvation through repeated incarnations. Certain diagrams from the First Principles of Theosophy by C. Jinarajadasa, 1921, have been used in the slide to highlight the ideology behind #theosophy.
🛑Watch out for the admixture of the cross, Jewish star, a snake and the “om” written on the top, it is a #theosophical occult!
🚨Theosophical Society, United Lodge of Theosophists, Theosophy Hall, Krotona School, Quest Books.
🚨 Krishnamurti Foundation Trust (based on Jiddu Krishnamurti’s teachings), Arcane School of Alice Bailey, Anthroposophy, Agni Yoga Society of Nicholas Roerich, “I AM” movement, Church Universal and Triumphant of Elizabeth Clare Prophet, Saint Germain Foundation (these are theosophy-inspired groups).
About #anthroposophy -->
Founded in 1912 as the “#Anthroposophical Society” by Austrian psychic, Rudolf Steiner as a break-away group from #theosophy. Its headquarters is located at the Goetheanum in Dornach, #Switzerland. The term “anthroposophy” means wisdom of the human.
Steiner claimed to receive information directly from the spiritual realm. Unlike theosophy, #anthroposophy is man-centered and doesn’t focus much on God. He saw the Bible as a source for human potential.
Certain famous followers were known such as Owen Barfield and David Spangler.
Steiner called his system “#Christian #occultism” and radically rethought Christian terms. He describes two separate “Jesuses” who merged spiritually, after which a “Christ-essence” entered and remained for three years. when he was crucified, Jesus’ blood flowed into the physical earth, where its mystical power propels humanity’s evolution. Steiner saw Jesus as a cosmic force of love. by this, the so-called Christ essence “mass-incarnates” humanity. Additionally, anthroposophy aims to integrate material knowledge with spirituality.

About #spiritualism -->
It was popularized in the 19th century by Margaret and Kate #Fox in Hydesville, New York, who claimed to communicate with a #spirit through rapping noises. It quickly spread in the western nations. Basically, it’s a faith where belief is grounded in spirit communication. However, it has been embroiled in various fraud accusations.
#Kardecism – Allan Kardec (Hippolyte L D. Rivail), a French educator collected communications from multiple mediums and published it as a book. It’s especially influential in #Brazil. There are #Spiritist hospitals, centers and charities nationwide. Known otherwise as #Spiritism.
Mediums conduct seances to contact the dead. They write messages dictated by spirits. Church services feature such spirit messages and prophecies. table-turning and rapping are used as well. They also use Ouija boards, crystal balls et cetera. At one point of time, they tried “spirit photography”.
⚠️Unfortunately, #spiritualism is appealing as it attracts grieving people who want to contact their deceased loved ones.
Certain famous followers were known such as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of the #Sherlock Holmes series. It shaped the modern #paranormal imagination such as #ghosts and #mediums.
God is seen as an impersonal power controlling the universe and Jesus was seen as a man, not God incarnate. While he was on earth, He was considered a spirit medium/prophet. He is now supposedly a spirit whom a spiritualist can communicate in the spirit world. “holy spirit” is referred as the spirit of a holy person who once lived. Spiritual evolution is the key belief.
Heaven and hell are seen as states of mind. Some branches consider reincarnation and karma as well. Each person can have direct spiritual experiences in what is known as personal revelation.

1⃣ God is impersonal as a universal spirit.
2⃣ Spiritual evolution
3⃣ Spiritual communication
4⃣ Law of cause and effect (karma) and reincarnation
5⃣ Freedom and moral responsibility
6⃣ Personal revelation.

About #satanism --
Satan (the devil) is worshipped as a central figure in some forms of the religion of satanism.
The forms are as follows:
• LaVeyan/atheistic satanism, founded by Anton LaVey (the theatrical form). Satan is seen as a symbol of individualism and self-empowerment. it emphasizes on rebellion against conventional morality and uses psychological symbolism heavily.
•Theistic/traditional satanism, founded by Michael W. Ford. Believers here worship Satan for personal empowerment or spiritual goals.
•Temple of Set/left-hand path, founded by Michael Aquino. More esoteric and philosophical with initiation in a structured manner.
Certain famous celebrities associated include Marilyn Manson, King Diamond, Jayne Mansfield, Sammy Davis Jr. and musicians such as Black Sabbath, Slayer, Ghost.
#Satanism thoroughly rejects biblical #Christian doctrine and is extremely man-centered. In the LaVeyan form (atheistic), he writes that those who believed in a literal God invented him as an externalized form of their own ego. Jesus is seen as a failure. Man is free of any moral codes and belief in sin is designed to make men feel guilty and controlled by religions. Those who follow this don’t believe in the need of salvation, no life beyond death and life is to be fully lived.
Some satanists however believe in Satan as a real, personal being. There are nine satanic statements such as – man should indulge, be kind only to the deserving, take vengeance et cetera. Many #satanists are self-styled. #Magic is performed here (the satanists don’t believe in white or black magic, just magic). Satanic rituals are performed, which according to LaVey, is a blend of #Gnostic, #Kabbalistic, #Hermetic and #Masonic elements. Black masses are blasphemous ceremonies performed. they have some holidays – the satanist’s own birthday, April 30th and October 31st.
🛑Watch out for the #pentacle/#pentagram, it could be a #satanic occult! It can be confused with the symbolism of #wicca.
🚨#Satanism (any form – LaVeyan/theistic), Temple of Set.
🚨 Reports of satanist-inspired crimes, rock bands, novels and films for shock value.
Mystical occultism -- these include #Gnosticism, #Hermeticism, #Neoplatonism.
#Gnosticism -- Originated in 1st-3rd century C.E during early Christianity. It is believed that secret knowledge (#gnosis) leads to salvation. Material world is seen as flawed or evil and dualism is believed in, for example here – spirit is divine, light; matter is corrupt and dark. Demiurge is seen as creator of material world. Archons are seen as cosmic rulers enforcing the limitations in material world. They are seen as obstacles to spiritual ascent of any soul. Every human contains a fragment of the divine. it is believed that soul is liberated via knowledge and spiritual awakening.
Texts – Nag Hammadi library in Egypt, Valentinian texts (gnostic interpretations of Christianity), Pistis Sophia (Sophia “represents” humanity and seeks to return to Pleroma (seen as mystical heaven/fullness of divine reality))
#Hermeticism -- Originated in 2nd- 4th century C.E during early Christianity. Certain texts were attributed to Hermes Trismegistus (means Thrice-Great Hermes, who is a syncretic figure of #Hermes, the Greek god and #Thoth, the Egyptian god).
The key tenet is emphasized here, “As above, so below”, meaning the universe mirrors humanity. Therefore, understanding universe helps understand self. Every human supposedly has a fragment of divine intelligence and that should be awakened by undergoing spiritual ascent. That is undertaken via alchemy, astrology, ceremonial rituals, magic and meditation.
The universe is governed via cosmic laws (alchemy and astrology) which allows mankind to harmonize. that is why, you see that hermeticism influenced many occult groups.
Texts – Corpus Hermeticum, Emerald Tablet.
#Neoplatonism -- Originated in 3rd century C.E, it was developed by Plotinus in Egypt. it was based on Plato’s (ancient Greek philosopher) system, with mystical #occult ideas. It believes that the One (the Good) is the ultimate source of goodness and reality and everything flows into a hierarchical system (as the One -> Divine Mind -> World Soul -> Material World). the human soul needs to ascend upwards via philosophical contemplation, ethical living, meditation and study of texts. soul should ultimately unite with the One.
Texts – The Enneads, Elements of Theology.
About the postmodern occultism -- #Chaos #Magick.
Emerged in the UK, through the efforts of Peter Carroll and Ray Sherwin, it developed as a post-modern, experimental #occult approach to #magic. this is very active in modern #occult and #neopagan communities.
This is notable as it is highly adaptable, personalized and experimental. Belief is seen as a tool, where it is temporarily adopted to achieve results; if it doesn’t work, it is discarded. Techniques are chosen based on results. Symbols (sigils), gnosis (here it means altered consciousness like trance, meditation, ecstasy et cetera), divination, rituals and deities are some of the tools used here. This is not dogmatic.
Chaos Magick focuses on self-empowerment with creativity and rejects fixed system and dogma.
Books used –

2⃣ Psychonaut (1987)
3⃣ The Book of Results
🚨Illuminates of Thanateros (considered as the first Chaos Magick order) and other lodges – even though chaos magick is mostly decentralized.
🚨Social media is an active source (especially Discord, Reddit, Telegram), #occult website forums dedicated to #chaos magick. music related to chaos #magick.
There are other occult groups (such as The New Church by Swedenborg, Religious Science by Ernest Holmes, #Raelianism (a #UFO religion et cetera) which are not discussed here and would be out of scope of this video. one can refer to the “Encyclopedia of New Religions” by Christopher Partridge and the “Book of Cults” by Bob Larson for additional information and reference.
These posts are NOT intended to arouse an unhealthy curiosity for #occultism.
I wanted to highlight about the occult roots of #Mormonism and #Scientology.
In the history of #Restorationist movement (comprising the #LDS church and others), Joseph Smith (the founder) was a Freemason, used tools, seer stones and scrying and went for treasure-seeking which are #occult practices. Certain texts such as the Book of Abraham in the Pearl of Great Price does mention about pre-mortal existence and the fact that men can become gods. Also, there are ritual handshakes in the endowment ceremony which are highly secretive, like Freemasonry.
In the history of scientology, there’s theosophical influence with esoteric cosmology (intergalactic theories and Xenu (the ruler of the intergalactic) myth). Auditing sessions are mystical practices aimed at liberating the spirit, currently trapped in Earth (known as a thetan) by engrams (negative past experiences). They use the so-called “E-meter device” in the picture shown to the right of the slide to track spiritual progress. Like other occult movements, this one believes in spiritual evolution too.
The end.
if you understood and got awareness, please share this to others. let them know about the dangers of #occultism. let’s pray for the #occultists and those contemplating to move into it. Amen.
As a reminder given in Deuteronomy 18:10-12, "No one shall be found among you who makes a son or daughter pass through fire,
or who practices divination,
or is a soothsayer,
or an augur,
or a sorcerer,
or one who casts spells,
or who consults ghosts or spirits,
or who seeks oracles from the dead.
For whoever does these things is abhorrent to the #Lord; it is because of such abhorrent practices that the Lord your #God is driving them out before you.”

Disciples, Acts and Councils -- Part 2: Acts -- Christianity Simplified.
This thread will focus on the book of Acts in the Bible, the equal acceptance of gentile believers just as those hailing from Jewish background, the seven deacons and St. Paul's missionary journeys.
It's a remarkable book not just spiritually for Christians, but also a valuable historical resource into how the Roman Empire functioned and seamanship was demonstrated, during the shipwreck at Malta.
As always, I have focused this for our Christian brothers and sisters. So whether you're a Catholic, Protestant of any denomination or Orthodox, please read the thread. It gives the foundation for how the apostles spread their faith under persecution, as St. Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 11:23-28,
"Are they ministers of Christ? I am talking like a madman—I am a better one: with far greater labors, far more imprisonments, with countless floggings, and often near death.
Five times I have received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one.
Three times I was beaten with rods.
Once I received a stoning.
Three times I was shipwrecked; for a night and a day I was adrift at sea; on frequent journeys,
in danger from rivers, danger from bandits, danger from my own people, danger from gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers and sisters;
in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, hungry and thirsty,
often without food, cold and naked.
And, besides other things, I am under daily pressure because of my anxiety for all the churches."
Remember, Christianity wasn't spread easily during those times. It didn't spread by the sword. The apostles faced tough times and newly converted Christians were martyred for their faith in God.
The Holy Spirit constantly guided them to share faith. Yet despite troubles, they relentlessly pushed forward to spread the Word to the "ends of earth". This is how the Church started and we should stay united.
Others are also welcome to read.
So with this, let's start.
🧵
The Prerequisites for Acts is covered here. Do read this before going into this thread.
Jesus appeared to the disciples since His resurrection, over a span of 40 days. He showed proofs and spoke to them about the kingdom of God despite His physical absence. He told them to wait in Jerusalem until they get baptized by the Holy Spirit.
During His ascension in Acts 1:6-9, disciples asked about the timing of the restoration of the kingdom to Israel. Jesus replied that the Holy Spirit would come and guide the apostles for a mission. A mission to spread the Word, in Jerusalem, in all of Judea and Samaria and to the “ends of the earth”. A plan was laid out for the apostles. They will be witnesses of testimony they experienced during Jesus’ ministry and share the gospel. All this would happen when the Holy Spirit comes.
The disciples weren’t aware of the full extent of restoration of the kingdom. Which kingdom did they mean? They were in a persistent confusion about the kingdom of God, the restoration of Israel and ?national independence like David’s (Luke 22:24-27). It was never about a human kingdom. God’s kingdom has no borders like how King David had boundaries marking the edges. The restoration was meant for all people, to various people groups around the world.
He was lifted into heaven and two men dressed in white robes stood by the apostles, telling them that Jesus was taken into heaven and will come in the same way they saw Him going there. Even though not with us physically, He will continue to guide us, interceding from the right hand of His Father. (Psalm 110).
The story of the early Church begins from here.
In short, these verses highlight the following:
🌌Jesus’ exaltation into heaven.
✝️Jesus' continuing ministry.
🔙🔜Jesus' return.
Disciples, Acts and Councils -- Part 1: #Disciples -- #Christianity Simplified.
(Acts and Councils will be published in separate threads).
This thread will focus on the twelve disciples of Christ -- what did it mean being a disciple and their missionary journeys.
I have researched into multiple books, early Church fathers' traditions and books and scholarly references for this thread, as the fate of some disciples were not clear. Some may conflict with others. Yet the point is not to highlight the differences, rather it is to inculcate awareness about their ordeals and how Christianity spread.
As always, I have focused this for our Christian brothers and sisters. So whether you're a Catholic, Protestant of any denomination or Orthodox, please read the thread. It gives the foundation for how Christianity spread and that's what we should remember, and apply this to our missionaries when dealing with the people who moved out of the faith.
This has to be a perennial reminder for us, Christians, that their hard work and tireless efforts made us get to know and love God.
4th Thread of #Christianity Simplified -- Cults (Part 2: Jehovah's Witnesses and Seventh-Day Adventism)
Welcome everybody. In this thread, we will discuss about the cults. For brevity and simplicity of the vast discussion of various cults, I have decided to focus on #JW (#Jehovah's #Witnesses) and #SDA (#Seventh-Day #Adventism) for this current thread. I will discuss about other cults in subsequent upcoming threads.
Why is it important to be aware of the #cult? Cults have certain characteristics and they deviate from the #Biblical doctrine. They don't share the same principles as the rest of #Christendom does. Hence, they are non-#Christians.
To my dear #Jehovah's #Witnesses and #Seventh-Day #Adventists, (as I have focused on these faiths for my thread), I am not here to ridicule or insult you. The thread is solely designed to expose the dangers of this faith and how it has deviated away from basic #Christian doctrines. We love you all and will pray for you to come out of this cult. Some of you may be thinking, "Jehovah's Witnesses or Seventh-Day Adventists isn't a cult".
But in fact, it is not.
Read on, as we explore. This thread is also intended for Christians around the globe to be aware about such cults. As this thread focuses on Jehovah's Witnesses and Seventh-Day Adventists, it's important to know about these cults and be aware of their dangers. With this, let's start.
🧵
2. Jehovah's Witnesses:
Jehovah's Witnesses, a #cult organization, was founded by Charles Taze Russell (1852-1916) and later by Joseph F. Rutherford (1869-1942). Founded in 1879 in Pennsylvania, it is headquartered in #Brooklyn, New York.
It is also known as the #Watchtower Bible & Tract Society. Currently, it has over 20 million followers. They publish magazines, books and other materials in over 300 languages.
Charles T. Russell was born on February 16, 1852, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was initially a part of the Seventh-Day Adventists (born in a Presbyterian family). Its founder Ellen G. White and leader William Miller predicted Jesus would return on Earth in 1843. That didn’t obviously happen, so they set a new date for the forthcoming year, which didn’t happen again.
Because He did not come in 1874 (known as the Great Disappointment), Russell and his associates started to clarify that Christ came spiritually (in an invisible manner) and He will take the saints after three years and six months.
That didn’t happen. so Russell left the Seventh-Day Adventists and started a group with like-minded "Bible students". He married Maria Ackley in 1879 but divorced later. He didn’t remarry.
‘Zion Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence’ was created in 1878 to advocate #JW’s beliefs. Later, the ‘#Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society was formed’. In the 1880s, he developed a six-volume “Studies in the Scriptures” series. Quasi-authoritative in nature, next to the #Bible, the six-volume manuscript focuses on chronology of the end times and second coming.
4th Thread of Christianity Simplified -- Cults (Part 1: Mormonism)
Welcome everybody. In this thread, we will discuss about the cults. For brevity and simplicity of the vast discussion of various cults, I have decided to focus on #Mormonism for this current thread. I will discuss about other cults in subsequent upcoming threads.
Why is it important to be aware of the #cult? Cults have certain characteristics and they deviate from the #Biblical doctrine. They don't share the same principles as the rest of #Christendom does. Hence, they are non-#Christians.
To my dear #Mormons (as I have focused on this faith for my thread), I am not here to ridicule or insult you. The thread is solely designed to expose the dangers of this faith and how it has deviated away from basic #Christian doctrines. We love you all and will pray for you to come out of this cult. Some of you may be thinking, "Mormonism isn't a cult". Many posts lately have stated that Mormons are Christians.
But in fact, it is not.
Read on, as we explore.
This thread is also intended for Christians around the globe to be aware about such cults. As this thread solely focuses on #Mormonism, it's important to know about this cult and be aware of its dangers.
Welcome to the third thread on #Christianity Simplified.
Hell and Eternal Punishments.
The thread will discuss about the nature of #Hell and eternal #punishments. I have geared this thread for the #Christians around the world, those who are nominal Christians, those raised in the Christian heritage but moved out into #atheism or #false #religions and for those who reject #Christ as their savior.
Whether you're an #Anglican, #Catholic, #Episcopal, #Presbyterian, #Orthodox, #Methodist, #Baptist, #Reformed, #Lutheran or otherwise, I have ensured content clarity and views so that the concept of Hell is clear. The views might differ especially for those who believe in universalism, but respecting such intra-Christian differences, let's not use that to dilute the substance of the topic, I will be discussing. I also urge Mormons, Seventh-Day Adventists and JWs to go through it and note that the Biblical and early Christianity's interpretations of Hell are different from the ones you heard about.
These slides have been painstakingly referenced with authoritative figures, early Church fathers, a Doctor of the #Catholic Church (St. Alphonsus Liguori), some #Orthodox saints such as St. Seraphim of Sarov and a widely respected #Protestant theologian, Jonathan Edwards.
An apocryphal text regarding the nature of hell has been added for the thread, but mind you, it is not doctrinally binding. They are rather given to give nuances and an illustrative view of #Hell.
With this, let's start. 🧵
Introduction.
Let me start by saying that #Hell is real. It is Biblical and a place of eternal torment. The canonical texts tell us about it. The church fathers in early Christianity talked more explicitly about Hell, especially the visions.
This is meant to engage in the utmost serious gravity about spiritual warfare. All the Christians, whether a Catholic, an Orthodox or a Protestant (from any denomination) are urged to read in this thread about what is Hell, God’s Wrath and eternal punishments. Despite minor differences in the three denominations, all would agree that hell is for eternity with no escape and the soul would suffer infinitely in an impenitent state. (Note the word -- impenitency).
Some Christians, especially the Protestant brethren (Lutheran/Reformed movements ones), may think otherwise as “Sola Scriptura” is the key to their belief. but let me remind you that the descriptions given by the church fathers and the apocryphal texts are not doctrinally binding, as stated in the introduction. These are given for illustrative purposes so that you get a more nuanced view of Hell.
#Occultism - #Part 1. Due to the long list of occult groups and movements, I felt it necessary to divide this into two parts.
The purpose of this thread would be to give awareness and sensitize #Christians around the world to the spiritual dangers of occult. It's also intended for #occultists who could read through my thread and make a decision to come out of it, and also those contemplating to practice or experience it. Why am I doing this?
As St. Paul clearly states in Ephesians 5:8-12, “For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Walk as children of light, for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true. Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness; rather, expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly.”
Remember in the first part, the Lord's prayer, I did mention that the devil primarily attacks the mankind via this route (occult). Hence, let's start.
