Proving CDC learned nothing from COVID: they’re still fatally bureaucratic and cannot handle emergency data collection.

As COVID took off, we could not get CDC to move quickly or even resolutely on data collection. Simple 1-day changes took them weeks. 1/

In month 2 of CDC database changes which should have taken days, HHS leaders took CDC off the job and started HHS Protects, a nimble data management system which quickly made up for time CDC had lost.

CDC went nuts, leaked accusations to the media. 2/ nytimes.com/2020/07/14/us/…
CDC lost that battle; HHS fixed the data. As a result the Center had a bureaucratic meltdown, surprising everyone by simply taking all their data off their Web site.

Warned nobody.

Just disappeared their data in the midst of a pandemic.

In 1992 I was a media guy on the Bush-Quayle re-election team. I called up my friend #PJ O’Rourke in NH.

ME: Hey PJ. I’ve got a funny scam I wanna play on Clinton-Gore. You in?

PJ: Hell yeah. Will there be smoked meats?

I explained that my team was responsible for all satellite TV work on the Bush re-elect and our sat-time buyer had tipped us off to a big Clinton-Gore buy. We figured out there was a national college student rally planned for Clinton at dozens of campuses across the country.

Bill Clinton would speak at one school, then Hillary at another, Al and Tipper at two other schools. Surrogates at watch parties speaking across the country. One long consecutive remote rally, all connected by satellite. Actually a pretty innovative campaign event for 1992.

Evusheld is an important treatment made available by @GovRonDeSantis and @FLSurgeonGen Joseph Ladapo for immunocompromised Floridians including cancer recovery patients like me. I was vaxed 3 times with Moderna but an antibodies test revealed that I had zero B cell immunities. 2/
This was a shock for our family. Still in the early stages of my cancer recovery it was a real possibility I might get sick with Omicron. I called many hospitals; I couldn’t get a human on the phone. (Are you surprised?) The first place to even talk to me was @IcareMedicine. 3/
