PhDs being commodified into luxury goods + internet created a demand for stupid courses from upper-middle class Americans. There was higher demand for these degrees than there was need for new scholarship.

That plus a population of subliterates who don't realise they're subliterate and being handed PhDs means they conflate Media Studies with some sort of scientific breakthrough, and you end up with a generation of graduates who think said rambling mess is authoritative.

You end up with rambling deconstrutionist messages passed off as knowledge. Rinse, repeat, meme.

Those subliterate upper-middle class people then flood the internet, displacing abd colonising a space traditionally held for the nerds and other people they bullied and snitched on.

Those people, incentivised by the media and advertisers, dumb PhD in hand, moved into "content", marketing, journalism and hijacked the blogosphere and sold their dumb personal memoirs for profit.

It pissed people off. They said they were pissed off. They were securitised, talked about/at, attacked for years and that escalated over a decade.

Then the far right figured out they could use this war for their own ends.

I am so fucking sick of everyone pretending they know shit about shit and others appointing them as experts, when they aren't. They just tell you what you WANT TO HEAR, or pepper it with pseudointellectual veneers, or on the other hand with political scientists etc, obfuscating the real power structures (their paypigs), motivations and history behind saccarine politeness to sound legitimate (and rewrite their own role, of course.).

All to avoid the truth that real left-wing, real anti-capitalist experts who know the internet have always been here, but have always been sidelined by media figures who will never tell you:

a) you're not doing politics/political commentary, because you don't know anything about it;

b) are not all that smart and cannot parse a basic study/know the most basic concepts, let alone understand complex political systems;

c) that political scientists tend to engage with definitions, trends, statistics and empirical evidence across several disciplines, not thunking online as you shit;

d) that the vast majority of people want all the PhDs, rewards, attention and fame without the effort, talent or expertise required to do it the right or difficult way (e.g. read, study); and

e) that "political commentators" aren't mostly just making stuff up and flinging mud at the wall in the hope they can fill the sad black void in their brains and souls that could be better satisfied by doing something actually difficult, like, say, picking up a book or becoming self-aware about your own motivations.
