85% of chronic pain isn’t physical—it’s psycho-emotional.

They called Dr. John Sarno crazy. Now, cutting edge neuroscience is showing he was right all along.

Here’s the truth about chronic pain and the mind-body connection:🧵 Image
Image
Dr. John Sarno predicted an epidemic of chronic pain in the 70s.

Today, over 50 million Americans suffer from it. And it’s the #1 cause of disability worldwide.

Yet, most mainstream treatments completely fail:

• Opioids • Injections • Surgeries • PT Image
Dr. John Sarno (1923–2017) noticed a disturbing pattern.

His patients had severe back pain—but their MRIs showed no physical damage.

He asked a radical question:

What if the pain wasn’t coming from the body at all?
Sarno developed the concept of TMS—Tension Myositis Syndrome or Mind-Body Syndrome:

Repressed emotions like anger, fear, and guilt keep the brain on high alert—so it creates pain as a distraction from painful emotions.

The pain is not imaginary. It’s very real.

But, it's caused by a brain under stress and not by damage to the body.
Physical injuries heal after 3 months and wounds don't hurt once healed.

So, why do some people develop chronic pain after an injury has passed?

If pain lasts more than 3 months, it's likely being caused by the brain and not by tissue damage in the body:
Neuroplastic pain = pain created by learned neural pathways in the brain.

It’s not caused by damage. It’s caused by repetition, emotion, and memory.

The brain gets stuck in a loop of protection—and creates pain to keep you “safe.”

But, why isn't the new science of pain taken seriously?
These ideas challenge the foundation of modern medicine.

If doctors were trained to treat chronic pain through the brain, pharmaceutical companies would lose billions.

Chronic pain is a $635 billion industry in the United States alone.

Besides that, what other health conditions are caused by the brain that we overlook?
Common neuroplastic conditions include:

• Chronic back, neck, or joint pain
• Migraines
• Fibromyalgia
• Irritable Bowel Syndrome
• Chronic fatigue
• Anxiety-Depression
• Long Covid

These conditions are real. But they are caused by the brain and not damage in the body. Image
It turns out:

Certain personality types are more susceptible to mind-body conditions.

These traits put pressure on the brain and cause hypervigilance. A brain under stress can produce a variety of symptoms.

And these personality traits often shift after treatment: Image
The science is finally catching up.

In 2022, Dr. Yoni Ashar, neuroscientist, ran the largest brain imaging study on chronic pain to date.

The treatment wasn’t anything physical, it was emotional.

Pain Reprocessing Therapy—a brain retraining approach for rewiring pain signals.
• 70% of participants became pain-free or nearly pain free after 30 days
• The placebo and usual care groups barely improved
• Brain scans showed reduced pain activity in the brain

The study was published in JAMA Psychiatry. This was real, peer-reviewed science.

A brain stuck in a loop of fear.
I was one of these people:

• I had chronic pain that lasted 7 years
• Depression (since age 12)
• Anxiety and trouble focusing

Turns out it was all in my brain—And completely reversible.

I’ve been completely pain-free and symptom free for more than 3 years now.
I've built a community to share the science and the practical exercises behind brain retraining.

It's a live community with access to me and other coaches as well as mind-body physicians.

After 7 years of chronic back pain, dozens of specialists, and $12K+ wasted on treatments that didn't work—I found the research that actually freed me for good.

Now, I'm sharing the exact protocol. Enrollment closes Oct 13th.

Why I Created Brain-Based Healing

Lying on a hardwood floor because it was the only surface that didn't make me scream.

ER doctor looked at my normal MRI and said "the pain might just be in your head." He was almost right.

It wasn't in my head—it was in my brain.
Your limbic system (brain's alarm center) can get stuck in emergency mode after injury, trauma, or chronic stress. This is called central sensitization in neuroscience.

It starts generating REAL pain or other symptoms to "protect" you from things that aren't actually dangerous: bending over, exercise, gentle touch.

The pain is real. The danger is not.

Most people believe chronic pain comes from damaged tissue — an injured back, a torn tendon, or inflamed joints.

But modern neuroscience is telling a completely different story:

In many cases, chronic pain is generated by the brain, not by bodily damage.

Let me explain:🧵 Image

Modern neuroscience has shown that all pain is generated by the brain.

When pain persists beyond normal healing, the nervous system can become conditioned to keep producing it — this is called neuroplastic pain or central sensitization.

This discovery is changing how we understand — and treat — one of the most disabling conditions in modern life.Image
Chronic pain is defined as pain that persists almost everyday for at least 3 months.

Nearly 50 million Americans live with it.

Migraines, sciatica, IBS, fibromyalgia, back and neck pain — these conditions cost over $500 billion a year in medical care and lost productivity.

By every measure we have, the Human Brain is the MOST adaptive organ on Earth across all species.

Let me explain:
Neuroplasticity at an unmatched scale

• The human brain can rewire itself not just after injury, but in response to abstract things like culture, language, art, and technology.

• No other species can create new symbolic systems (writing, math, coding) and pass them down across generations.
Environmental Mastery

• Brains in other animals adapt to ecosystems (octopuses to oceans, birds to migration, insects to colonies).

• The human brain adapts to every environment (deserts, tundra, space stations, the internet).

The goddess of neuroscience who discovered the “molecules of emotion":

Dr. Candace Pert.

Her research showed that your feelings aren't separate from biology. They ARE biology.

Here's how you can harness your emotions to rewire your brain for greater vitality and energy: Image
For centuries, we've been told emotions are purely psychological and have no effect on the body.

But a 26-year-old PhD student discovered that positive emotions can:

Boost immunity
Slow cellular aging
Improve heart health
Affect every major system in the body

Let me explain: ↓
In 1973, Candace Pert made a discovery that would revolutionize neuroscience.

She found the brain's opiate receptor—the exact spot where the body's natural "feel-good" chemicals attach.

She then set out to prove emotions were both a psychological and biochemical event.

The human brain naturally releases anti inflammatory chemicals known as DOSE:

Dopamine (motivation), Oxytocin (connection), Serotonin (Joy)
and Endorphins (natural painkillers).

Here are 10 ways to activate your brain’s feel-good chemicals naturally:
1. Switch Up Your Routine

A fascinating study found that taxi drivers who took different routes daily had more activity in their neocortex than bus drivers who drove the same path every day.
Novel experiences trigger dopamine release. Take a new route home, try a different coffee shop, or rearrange your workspace.
2. Move Your Body (Your Way)

You don't need to hit the gym to get that endorphin rush. Moderate exercise releases natural painkillers and mood boosters. Dance in your kitchen, take a walk around the block, do some stretches, or have a solo dance party. Find what feels accessible and enjoyable for you. You don't need rigorous exercise.
