Trump has basically called the bluff of the whole “ceasefire now” crowd: those limp progressives who have been posturing as pro-Palestine, but who refuse to support the armed struggle, and who are therefore objectively pro-ethnic cleansing.

/1
I say they are objectively pro-ethnic cleansing because it is damned obvious that there is no way for Palestinians to stop the ethnic cleansing without an armed struggle.

/2
And now Trump and the Zionists in both parties have opportunistically taken advantage of the New York mayoral election intimidate the currently reigning top young progressive star into repudiating the armed struggle and calling for the resistance to lay down its arms.

/3
By the time this is over, US progressives will be back to debating one another about whether a woman in hijab should be allowed to stand on the stage with Mamdani on election night.

/4
But while all this is going on among the completely insignificant and feckless US baby left, the Palestinian resistance will certainly NOT lay down their arms and is preparing for the upcoming rounds of aggression by the Zionist colony and its western imperialist sponsors. /5
There is no compromising with genocidal Zionazi ethno-supremacists. There is no acceptable outcome other than the liberation of Palestine from the river to the sea. //6

Everything Trump and his movement promotes centers around one thing: white supremacism, and celebration, embrace and energetic continuation of its of record of conquests, genocides, thefts, sadistic subjugations and violent surges of expansion.

/1
Columbus, confederate statues, Wounded Knee, violent deportations, making Blair viceroy of Gaza, etc. These are symbolic morale-boosters for the US white supremacist right and its sick supremacist allies around the world.

/2
Everything he and his butt-ugly movement does is aimed at getting white people to embrace their inner, red in tooth and claw conquerors, and pick up the flag of violent white settler-colonial expansionism.

I’m begging younger people not to make the same mistake we did a couple of decades ago. You will never win a debate with professional imperialists by debating them in imperialist terms using imperialist premises.

/1
You will never convince imperialists, who make money hand over fist from the imperial processes, including wars and weapons proliferation, that you know better than them how to be imperialists and put “America first” of “make America great.”

/2
As far as they are concerned they and their business enterprises, which include the government that they own and operate, ARE America. The rest of us are only employees. And they know better than us what is in THEIR interest and will make their empire “great.”

A lot of the left’s authentic anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist approach to global affairs has been impaired or neutralized by its obsessive entanglements with the “antiwar right” and insistence on framing its activism in right wing terms.

/1
They hang out too much at places like , where they absorb a lot of paleoconservative and right libertarian ideology. They then reproduce its discourses about “blowback”, America First, sovereignty, national loyalty and exceptionalist isolationism.

/2antiwar.com
The founder of that website was a Hayekian and Rothbardian libertarian, and fanatical anticommunist. That ethos still permeates the antiwar right, along with an ethos of exclusivist patriotism.

Listen, socialists, you have a choice to make. The western empire, built on 500 years of colonialism, imperialism, genocide, and white supremacy, and from the accumulation of private capital extracted violently from conquered territories, is making a last effort to hold on.

/1
Musk, Trump, Rubio and the rest of that gang are the crude, brazen, openly racist edge of that effort. But much of the liberal class, and even some self-identified leftists are committed to nationalisms, eurocentrism, western supremacism and white solidarity politics.

/2
The choice is whether you will take the side of planetary unity and the optimistic global majority, who are building the future, or the bitter, resentful curmudgeonly west and its retreat into supremacism, exploitative expansion, and anxiety about the loss of its “purity.”

The US empire was obviously not “dragged into” the Ukraine proxy war, not by Zelensky or anybody else. First, they encouraged Ukraine to fight the proxy war to bleed and weaken Russia, as recommended in a RAND report.

/1
It didn’t work. The sanctions flopped, Russia actually got stronger, the Russia-China partnership was solidified, BRICS swelled, and much of the global south began seeking alternatives to submission to the U.S. empire.

/2
So now with all those failures piling up, the US is looking to end what turned out to be a self-destructive project, and stop sending good money after bad. They are telling Ukraine it’s over, and trying to minimize the humiliation to the US itself.

When we talk about a politics rooted in the “movements” and “neighborhoods” and “communities” built “from the bottom up”, it all sounds so wholesome and democratic. But what it can amount to in practice is a left that is globally ignorant, and easily manipulated by the empire. /1
We should try to build a left whose cadres know as much about what is happening in East Asia and West Asia and Africa and Latin America as they know about US working class communities, and understand how it is all connected. /2
We all have a common enemy: the US imperialist-capitalist empire, the oligarchs who own it and the corrupt and genocidal hireling politicians who administer it for them. /3
