THREAD: The basic mechanics and simple math surrounding the pipe bomb discovered near the RNC on Jan 6.

The discovery:
Karlin Younger—a Capitol Hill resident teleworking for FirstNet that day—found the device just outside her residence, in a secluded section of the alley her building shares with the RNC.

At 12:40 pm, she alerted a nearby RNC security guard. She later told authorities that when she discovered the device, its timer showed 20 minutes remaining.

IMPORTANT:
“20 minutes on the clock,” found 20 minutes before the joint session of Congress convened, is the only detail in the entire RNC/DNC pipe bomb story suggesting any direct link to the events at the Capitol.

It also marks the point where Younger’s story begins to fall apart.
The mechanics:
The device’s timer—a modified Mainstays kitchen timer—had no way to visibly show any number or remaining time.

The FBI lab report shows that only the dial face and underlying clockwork components of the timer were used.
The main housing unit—which normally holds the system together and contains the fixed red arrow that points to the timer’s numbers—was removed.Image

In the original design, that arrow is the only feature capable of “pointing” at a number to show time.

Without it, there’s nothing to indicate how much time is set—no hand, no pointer, no visible countdown.

The raised knob molded into the dial face—fixed between “0” and “30”—does not move or indicate time. It serves only as the grip used to twist the dial.

Timer example:
The timer on the device Younger found contained only:
• Internal clockwork components
• Dial face with hash marks from 0–59
• A fixed knob molded into the center of the dial (between “0” and “30”)—just a grip, not a time indicator

Yet she repeated the claim that the device’s timer was set to 20 minutes.Image
Even if the timer had been set, there was no way for anyone—including Younger—to physically see how much time remained.

The only feature that could have made that “20 minutes” detail visible—or known to an unsuspecting discoverer—simply did not exist on the device.

Which raises the next question:
How could she have possibly known how much time—if any—was left on the clock?
With no hand, no arrow, no indicator, even whoever set the timer would’ve had to do it blind—turning it fully, then estimating how much time was left based only on memory of when it was set.

The math:
If the hour-long kitchen timer really had 20 minutes remaining at 12:40 pm, someone would’ve had to set it no earlier than 12:00 noon.

Next logical question: Who was in the alley at 12:00 pm?
Answer: Karlin Younger—as she headed to the same obscure section of the alley where she’d “discover” the device 40 minutes later.
The only way to escape that math is almost equally concerning: that Younger fabricated not only a “hand” that never existed (already established), but the entire notion of “twenty minutes” existing on the clock in any form at all—the single detail that anchored the image of a bomb synchronized to the joint session.

But if so—why?
