1 of 25/ Like Martha, the church is telling us there will be a resurrection on "the last day". What did Jesus say about that one? A thread 🧵

3/ Why do I say, put simply? Because churches since the dawn of time have been trying to take OTHER people's words and prophecies and make a new doctrine on matter. Mainly from the NT via Paul's words. Or they'll use an OT verse and get mixed up regarding the matter.

4/ There's an OLD Testament (like a Will & Testament you'd read at the death of your rich uncle) and there's a NEW Testament (that's still in effect and always will be).

5/ Jesus came to make "all things new" (restore them really to how they WERE before mankind made them a big ole' mess (more on that later as I can only talk about so much at once lol)..

6/ Yes, I truly wish Jesus had been emphatic and told Martha, "No Martha, you're screwed up a bit here." But that's not how Jesus answers. He's more kind than I am. lol. Jesus redirected her and gave her the answer, that "Martha, I AM the resurrection". So...

7/ What we see is it is NOT the "last day" anyone (don't care if they're Full Preterists <complete fulfillment in latin> or not. Jesus said NO. (the "last day" was is a few differing 'types'). Stay with me. I'll help on that.

8/ The "Last Day" spoken of a thousand years before Christ entered the scene on earth was for those OLD Testament saints who had been languishing in the grave/ sheol / 'hell' some will call it. They were AWAITING a savior to release them from their bondage 'down there'.

9/ Listen, they didn't give a flyin hoot about what was going on up on earth..all they wanted was to be released from their hellhole. Like Saul was summoned up by the witch of Endor (Samuel) or like the Rich man and Lazarus scene where the rich man thirsts and begs his friends..

10/ ...to strongly avoid the the place, lol. The point there is, in both these instances Jesus had not died yet and was still alive and so they were STILL THERE awaiting THEIR "last day" in the grave.

11/ Also, each of us has a 'last day' on earth when we die. But, we do not die a 'second death'. All men die a first. To say we don't from anyone out there is giving you false info. More on that in a second.

12/ I also know this might at seem like I'm giving you no HOPE to fly out of here in the middle of the afternoon, unscathed. To that, I'm sorry. The rapture doctrine has done this to us and that one is only about 150 years old and came over from Scotland via Scofield..

13/ I get off course..too much to say. Anyway, the "Last Day" for those in the grave was when Jesus went there and Redeemed (purchased w/his body) them from it. It took 3 days and 3 nights to judge them worthy WHO would be redeemed.

14/ That was April 3, 33 AD and 3:00 p.m. Historical calendars will tell you there was a major earthquake there. Again, more later.

15/ So Jesus rose WITH them (which you will also not here in church) as told by our earliest church fathers, Ignatius, Tertullian, etc., but most importantly here in Matthew:

16/ Because Paul doesn't speak of that and eludes to it not even happening so "he won't overthrow the faith of some", I don't do that. I tell you what it is. But about that Paul (there are many books written on him but none like what WILL be..lol), here's a good one in Rev 2:

18/ HE is the "anti-" you all fear is coming today. There may be more but it's not written. there's always little turds running around claiming this that and the other thing, but the one you've been taught from Jesus HIMSELF was that guy.

19/ Jesus didn't handpick Paul. Some 'angel of light' did or Paul said he did. Be careful of those that speak saying they were handpicked but not. Jesus chose 12 for a reason. Twelve. 12 Foundations that hold up the Bride of Christ. Even MORE on that one later.

20/ Note: This is not NEW Holly Doctrine. Hardly. This is old. Very very old. The original. Ask my knees, they think and feel like they were there. haha. Yeah, I'm feeling very old. Tired really, from trying to convey this enough ways so it resonates.

21/ Back to that Resurrection on the "Last Day". Jesus was redirecting Martha - telling her she's got a few things mixed up. Martha was still alive. Martha wasn't going to even NEED "resurrecting" as she would immediately, upon her individual death, be CAUGHT UP without every dying really..

22/ Proof of this is with Stephen in Acts 7, circa 35 AD, who died as the first martyr for Christ. Jesus (being in heaven now) stood in the clouds and said "come"). There is no descent in a fleshly body from Christ again. Ever. Well, I suppose he COULD, but it isn't written.

23/ Christ can do anything he wants I'm gathering. But no, this is NOT prophecy! Everyone has it allll mixed up! And rightfully so, as there are tons of verses to mix in our brains of thick sauce. I get that. I was in that mess.

24/ So to recap, Jesus was telling Martha HE was there to raise the dead (OT saints) and also that after that they would 'never <really> die' and wouldn't need it.

25/ Martha, as did most and really as perhaps did Paul (a student rather of the OT) was not understanding the changing over to the NEW world or the NEW Promise or the NEW Testament or the NEW land that was now worldwide and SO Spiritual ONLY. /end
