After reviewing the 4,000 #Benghazi emails from the CIA, the @HouseBenghazi Select Committee issued a new document request to the CIA on 4/28/15 for SameTime messages, emails, operational cables and intelligence reports to better understand CIA activities in #Benghazi. As with the 1st request for the "read-and-return" records, this request for documents was met with strong resistance from @JohnBrennan's CIA. It took another 2.5 months for the CIA to provide documents, but it was an incomplete production with many documents held back. One of the documents the CIA held back was a critical email it had shared with the House Intelligence Committee previously, so the only logical reason it would have been withheld from the House Benghazi Select Committee was that the CIA played politics with dead Americans. (1/3)
Because @JohnBrennan's CIA was withholding documents that were known to exist, the @HouseBenghazi Select Committee issued a subpoena to the CIA on 8/7/15. The 8/7/15 subpoena was for records including the unclassified #Benghazi CIA talking points, as well as SameTime messages, a more efficient communications platform than email used by CIA personnel during and in the immediate aftermath of the #Benghazi attacks. On 8/28/15, the CIA responded to the subpoena with additional documents, but still refused to send the SameTime messages because "doing so would have serious negative consequences on CIA's work." (2/3)
It is an extremely arrogant suggestion by @JohnBrennan's CIA that Congress is not entitled to staff communications, considering that, as set forth by the Constitution, Congress provides funding for and has oversight authority over the CIA. It was only after a 2nd subpoena on 1/20/16 and a threat to hold Brennan in contempt of Congress that his CIA finally relented and produced the SameTime messages and other records to the @HouseBenghazi Select Committee a staggering 11 months after their first request. At 4PM on Saturday 9/15/12, a conference call was convened by @brhodes to prep @AmbassadorRice for her appearance on the Sunday shows the following morning. Also attending was @davidplouffe, the former advisor for the 2008 Obama presidential campaign. (1/4)
While @brhodes testified @davidplouffe would "normally” appear on the Sunday show prep calls, @AmbassadorRice testified she did not recall him being on prior calls and did not understand why a campaign advisor was on the call in this instance. (2/4)
Even though @AmbassadorRice was going on national TV to answer questions that would certainly come up regarding how a US ambassador was murdered, there were NO @StateDept attendees on the conference call. (3/4)
Kate Quigley, a sister of Glen Doherty, was also approached by @HillaryClinton at the 9/14/12 casket ceremony. Hillary's objective, once again, was not to offer sincere condolences for the death of a family member, but to cover for her incompetence. (1/4)
In a bizarre, sickening exchange, @HillaryClinton told Kate's family how "sad" they should feel, not about her recently slain brother, but about the Libyan people because they are "uneducated" and that "breeds fear, which breeds violence and leads to a protest." (2/4)
If @HillaryClinton was trying to make a mourning family feel guilty, it worked. Kate remembered how selfish she felt after Hillary's comment, how she should have thought more about the Libyan people instead of grief over the death of her brother. (3/4)
While canvassing the scene outside the @StateDept mission compound immediately in the initial attacks' aftermath, Wissam bin-Humaid was informed likely from Boka al-Oraibi, the Leader of Libya Shield Two, that the "Team Tripoli" Americans were being sent to provide support. (1/5)
Wissam was enraged that even more Americans would be coming to #Benghazi, and he verbally vowed to kill all of the Americans that evening. It was Wissam who coordinated the over 3.5 hr. delay of Team Tripoli from leaving the Benghazi International Airport. (2/5)
Once Wissam was ready to co-locate all the Americans at the CIA Annex, he gave Boka's Libya Shield Two militiamen permission to transport Team Tripoli from the airport to the Annex. (3/5)
Glen Doherty's funeral Mass was held at Saint Eulalia's parish in his native Winchester, MA on 9/19/12. His celebration of life was held on 10/12–14/12 in Encinitas, California. (1/4)
The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation was established "to bring education and recreation to those in need." It awards scholarships to current and former special operations professionals and their children from all branches of the government. @GDMFtweet (2/4)
The annual 5K/10/K Glen Doherty Memorial Road Race in Winchester, MA is a key annual fundraiser for the GDMF. (3/4) glendohertyfoundation.org
The same day that Obama White House staff sent its emails to counter @SharylAttkisson's #Benghazi reporting, she was preparing at home for an interview with @StateDept ARB head Thomas Pickering when text from her file started deleting itself as she looked on. (1/5)
Line by line, text from @SharylAttkisson's #Benghazi reporting was deleted in a split second. Her attempts to stop the deletions with her mouse pad and keyboard were useless. When she pressed down on the mouse pad, the deletions paused. When she let up, they resumed. (2/5)
As text from her #Benghazi reporting was being deleted beyond her control, @SharylAttkisson had the presence of mind to capture video of it in real-time using her phone. (3/5)
The @HouseBenghazi Select Committee missed an opportunity to pinpoint responsibility for U.S. foreign policy in Libya by failing to thoroughly analyze interviews with some witnesses who were not in senior leadership or politically motivated roles. (1/7)
One such witness was National Security Council director for Libya, Benjamin Fishman. In his 1/12/16 interview, he made it clear that Obama made the military intervention decision and was setting the policy in Libya in April 2011. (2/7)
Then, Fishman pointed out that starting in the Fall of 2011 decisions regarding U.S. operations, including establishing the Benghazi Mission compound and how to handle the deteriorating Spring and Summer 2012 security environment were State Dept. decisions. (3/7)
