ten years ago i was a staff consultant making $73k. today i’m a vice president at an investment firm. i didn’t have connections. i just kept showing up, learning, and asking for more, even when i was scared. women, go after that promotion. courage compounds faster than salary.
2014: $73k total income
2025: >$300k total income

no magic. just courage, consistency, and a refusal to stay small.
to every woman in corporate who’s wondering if she’s ready for that next role, YOU ARE. by asking yourself that question, it should clue you in to your readiness.

i’ve gone from a $73k staff consultant to a vp in 10 years. fear never left. i just learned to move anyway.
sharing a more detailed timeline of career and salary progression for those looking for a roadmap.
in 2014, i joined EY as a staff consultant earning $73k.

i was new, eager, and terrified of making mistakes. but i learned something early which is that people respect what you inspect, not what you expect.

so i started managing my own growth like a project.
by 2015 i was promoted to senior consultant at $125k.
it wasn’t luck. it was documentation.
i kept receipts: outcomes, feedback, impact. when review season came, i wasn’t “hoping” for a reward, i was presenting evidence. women, advocate for yourself in writing, not emotion.
fast forward to 2018 when i became a manager, earning $150k.

this was the hardest leap. more politics, more ambiguity, more burnout.
what got me through was learning to lead and deliver.

not just delegate, but still do the work well enough to earn respect from my clients.
2020 i became a finance manager at AWS, $200k.

tech was a culture shock. the pace, the jargon, the metrics.
but i learned that competence is portable. if you understand how to think clearly, you can adapt anywhere. confidence follows clarity, not the other way around.
fast forward to 2022 when i became assistant vice president at my current firm, $265k.
finance again. different rules. but the same principle: do your own thing professionally and respectfully.
uniqueness creates value. alpha belongs to outliers.
it’s now 2025. i was promoted to vice president in 2024.
total income > $300K.

still learning, still afraid sometimes, still showing up. but every risk i took, every “i’m not ready yet” moment i pushed through has helped me build this life.
to every woman wondering if she’s ready for that next role:
you probably won’t feel ready. that’s normal.
but apply anyway. you fear & feelings are not a stop sign, but proof you’re near the edge of growth.

your courage compounds faster than your salary.

be brave! 💫
my next milestone is managing director. i fully intend to get to this next level, but it will require me to weaponize my intensity cleverly, learn how to build consensus with senior executives and continue showing up to solve the hardest problems.

i am excited. :)
