Jimmy Rothschild of the Jewish Council of Urban Affairs is a 33rd ward, Albany Park resident. He says in his neighborhood he sees a lot of people struggling to pay for groceries, child care and property taxes, but don’t see a lot of CEOs but people who need help.
Srithi, an SEIU organizer, and a classroom worker of a Northside daycare urges the city to improve wages for childcare workers.
Paula S. is an educator of 23 years and mother of 6. She says supporting a family of this size on a childcare worker salary was extremely challenges and hopes for an increase.
Briana C. of the Chicago Black Project and resident of the 5th ward is confused and disappointed in the Chicago Alders for allowing the largest transfer of wealth in history and asks what they are doing to stop it?
Theresa is last up, and allowed to speak despite missing the cut off for public commenter signup. She says she supports the tax increase on corporations because their wealth has come from the swear of pain of Black people.
