watched a friend with zero coding experience go from new macbook → first app in the app store in ~1 month. here’s the workflow i taught him:
main takeaway from teaching two non-technical friends my vibe coding dev workflow: using the cli is intimidating
once they:
- set up configurations (installing claude code, node, npm, homebrew)
- learned basic unix commands (cd, ls, pwd, mkdir)
- set up their github account
- used chatgpt to turn their idea into a well scoped mvp prd document
they got into the groove 🏄🏾♂️

after the initial config and requirements outlined, that’s when they were blown away with claude code taking that prd → creating an implementation plan → executing it
the hardest part is helping them get over the initial hurdle of doing cli config + installing dependencies

after that hurdle, it’s smooth sailing — the cli interface is effectively the same interface they see when they open chatgpt, it’s just in the terminal now

yesterday, i walked another non technical friend through my work flow - this time more refined than last time as i’m constantly refining and improving my workflow based on new tools coming out and things i learn in my free time
- install cli tools
- ask chatgpt to turn vision into well scoped mvp prd
- create repo and drop prd markdown file in there
- get claude code to create and execute implementation plan
- push to github repo
- deploy to netifly / vercel

in the span of one afternoon, he made:
