It is easy to be grateful during times of abundance and prosperity at every level. When our store houses overflow, our bodies are strong, and we can feel God’s presence, it is easy. The bible calls for us to be thankful in all things. In his final advice in the first letter to
Thessalonica, Paul exhorts the new believers to “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
I believe he gives us this advice to prepare us for the times when we will feel pain
and discomfort and begin to question why some things are happening. How will we respond when we encounter difficulties or situations that seem insurmountable or when we feel that we just can’t do this. Paul says to rejoice (celebrate), pray continually, and ALWAYS give thanks…
because this is God’s will for us. When we reach the end of what we can take or do (and feel isolated), He reminds us through prayer that He is still with us and YES WE CAN. So even in those difficult times He is making us stronger, bringing us closer to perfection and we will
eventually look back and see them as the tremendous blessings that they were. So give thanks in advance!
Faith and Endurance
2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is
tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. - James 1:2-4

Today’s devotional is a continuation from yesterday. The brief theme this morning continues the thought that Paul told the Christians in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. In the middle of this statement of encouragement, he says to “Give thanks in everything.” It is from that premise that
I base this devotional as we celebrate today.
You see, just as it is with most holidays that we celebrate during the year, we stop and take pause today to remember and remind ourselves of who we are. We are a grateful nation, under God, always giving thanks for the blessings

Eternal Intercession Based on God’s Promise
There is a mysterious character in the Old Testament named Melchizedek. He is mysterious because he is the first priest ever mentioned in the bible who received and gave an offering (intercession) for the people. He did this as a priest before Levi was ever born when the
sacrificial system was established by the Law of Moses. He is also mysterious because we know very little about him. The bible doesn’t mention much about him, no ancestry nor descendants… only that he was a king and a priest, he blessed Abraham according to God’s promise to him,

The World Will Celebrate Prematurely
This is the theme that the Lord placed on my heart as He woke me up early this morning. It was the theme of how this world of darkness would begin to celebrate because they will think that they have won. They will think that they can fully implement their evil plans to control
and eliminate what God had started (His kingdom and His church). But Jesus says that the world’s celebration will be premature because He has already overcome them.
When I got up to read this, Jesus describes it in detail in John chapter 16. He had just finished telling His

A Comparison of Jesus and Moses
In today’s message, we will take a look at how the writer of Hebrews makes a stark comparison between Jesus and Moses. For the purpose of proper context, remember that this person was writing to an audience of the New Testament Jews for the purpose of communicating an important
message from God that they needed to understand. As it is with every other part of the bible, these messages are timeless and also very applicable to both you and me today.
To begin, let’s ask the question “Why does the writer feel the need to make this comparison?” Jesus and

God’s Jealousy and Dangerous Human Influence
As this book of Hosea draws to an end in the penultimate chapter, the Lord finishes His message to His people by reminding them of why He is angry with them. The essence of His displeasure is one of jealousy. He has openly done a lot for them, providing for all of their needs
including safety, provision, emotional and especially spiritual. The Lord has made His loving presence obvious to them in a way that was impossible to be missed.
Yet we see in His words today that the people of Israel have allowed themselves to be influenced by man. This bad

A Father’s Un-Dying Love for His Children
In several chapters throughout the middle of this book of Hosea, God has been presenting His case for all of the things that Israel has done to betray and reject Him. He has now had Hosea speak for several chapters about the coming judgment and how they would be mocked and
laughed at by the lovers to which she has clung (lovers who were actually her enemies). He has indeed painted a very dark picture for Israel’s future based on the choices that she has made.
But now in the eleventh chapter, we see a very intimate and tender side of the Lord.
