Funny thing happened when I was doing background research on potential congresswomen Aftyn Behn. I called a company she said she interned for...and they had never heard of her.
In 2023, Behn sat down with online publication Tennbeat for an interview. The outlet dubbed Behn "the AOC of Tennessee." Behn told Tennbeat that "during her senior year at the University of Texas, she interned at the Arc of Texas, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of persons with disabilities."
“We have no record of an intern with the name Aftyn Behn,” a spokesperson for the Arc of Texas told The Daily Wire.
After I confirmed both the spelling of "Aftyn Behn" and that the company's record system included interns, I knew my next question was not for the Arc of Texas but for Aftyn. However, Behn did not respond to a request for comment.
Her internship isn't the only thing Behn's had to clear up. When asked on MS NOW if she stood by her 2020 statement “Good morning, especially to the 54% of Americans that believe burning down a police station is justified" Behn responded "I'm not going to engage in cable news talking points." dailywire.com/news/tennessee…
In 2020, Aftyn said she hated Nashville, the very city she's running to represent. In 2025, Behn attempted to walk back her comments posting a video titled: “BREAKING: I DO NOT HATE NASHVILLE LOL.”
When the Daily Wire asked Behn if she stood by previous statements stating she wanted to abolish prisons, Behn did not respond to comment. dailywire.com/news/tennessee…
With all the confusion, it's time to set the record straight.
