EF protocol team's 3 priorities over past few months:
Scale L1, Scale blobs, Improve UX
Summary of what shipped from the "improve UX" side (or will soon be shipping)... in collaboration with many external groups across Ethereum 👨🏻🍳
- Open Intents Framework (audited and production ready, next steps: accelerate adoption and more secure/trustless settlement)
- EIL (a trustless crosschain path, possible backend for intents + more)
- Interop SDK for wallets/dapps
- Interoperable addresses aka chain-specific addresses like alice.eth@linea or bob.eth@arbitrum (ERC 7828, 7930)
- ERC-7786 crosschain messaging standard
- Fast Confirmation Rule: mechanism for much faster confirmations (in ~1 slot) with lower guarantees than full economic finality
- Consensus team work to get faster full economic finality (under 10 secs)
- Reducing 7 day withdrawal window for optimistic rollups (targeting 1-2 days to start, and then 1 hour or less)
- 6 sec slots specs, testing and iteration
- exploration on ZK message passing and crosschain token standards
- continued push on other key standards for UX: eg 5792 (batch operations for single user signature) , 7811 (discover and consolidate crosschain token balances), 7683 (legible liquidity order for wider and deeper intent markets)
Here's a condensed recap of the most recent Verkle Implementers Call 🐘
1/ Testnet relaunch
First up, the relaunch of the Kaustinen testnet.. Initial goal was to do the state transition at the first epoch, but ran into a few issues. Now doing transition at genesis. Will be relaunching the testnet in the next day or so 💪
2/
When the testnet relaunches, plan is for @jasoriatanishq to sync Nethermind using full sync. Then that Nethermind node will act as a Verkle Sync server node, and can be used to sync other nodes.
