2/ All this can still remain conceptual, of course. We can describe "interpretive canopies", "spectator distance", and even “fourth-wall apocalyptic theology”, enjoying the thrill of self-implication as an aesthetic effect. The wall breaks, we applaud—then return to our seats.
3/ The deeper question is whether the apocalyptic can break the wall that contains theology itself. The theological world that thinks it owns the gospel will not become true until it exorcises its own immunity, crucified by the same judgment and liberation it proclaims.
