independent thinkers & the meritorious. Indira's rampant populist Authoritarianism post 1969 which coincided with a wave of economic repression meant that India lost out on 2.5 decades of economic growth which would have manifested itself in the form a labor-intensive

manufacturing revolution bringing millions out of poverty helping break down social barriers. Dissenters were completely shut out and despite the silent revolution of intellectuals, policymakers and economists post 1977 leading to the 91 economic reforms, we never truly sold the

benefits of playing a positive sum game. Moreover, India's obsolete institutions couldn't deal with the complex set of problems that were about to come it's way in the 21st century. It's India's great tragedy that over the years, the elite we have produced mainly consists of

Marxist "third-raters" who don't have the intellectual rigour to engage themselves in the project of developing institutions that can deliver outcomes, all they want is validation, booze and appearance on prime-time NDTV, CNN or a conference in Oxford/Havard. It's truly our

misfortune that the Swantantra Party was only there on the political scene for 20 years. It's now or never for India; what we need is a classical Liberal/Libertarian revolution. Time to debate whether the fundamental principles/values that our constitution enshrines have actually

been protected, achieved or not? India needs a new generation of policymakers, economists, philosophers, politicians who are willing to engage in a debate about the fundamental structure of our polity. India needs a "reset". Strong property rights, lower taxes, decentralization,

economic freedom, an accountable judicial & police system is the need of the hour. Social engineering, redistribution, reallocation and regulation in the name of affirmative action only leads to hell. Prosperous nations are those that respect freedom and create a culture of merit

, not entitlement. The Bhartiya dream is at stake, now's the time to be proactive!!!
