🧵 I have never been aware before of May 8th being the anniversary of VE Day.

Until now, for the last 17 years, it has only been the anniversary of my Mickey's death in 2008.

This year as always I am thinking of Mickey but also of my mother, who had a "good war", was the longest serving woman in the army at the end of WW2 and loved it so much she went straight back in.
