Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin were closely linkedβboth personally and politically. They co-founded the Youth International Party, better known as the Yippies, in the late 1960s. The Yippies were a radical countercultural group that specialized in theatrical, media-savvy political protestsβessentially using satire and performance art to criticize the establishment. They were often described as political pranksters, and both Hoffman and Rubin were at the heart of that movement.
