As requested, this thread will go over the military aid Italy has provided to Ukraine since 2022. I will update the thread if anything new is found in the future. Hopefully this will help inform people, especially those who claim Italy has done nothing.

This should be it for now, keep in mind Italian aid to Ukraine is covered by state secret so there may be other aid which we have yet to see or know about. I will update this thread once more info is revealed. PM me if there's anything missing, many thanks for reading!

🇮🇹🇺🇦(+small thread🧵) Another convoy of Italian VCC-1's and M548's was recently spotted being transported via rail. These like the previous one seen some weeks ago are on their way to Ukraine. Italian aid will likely continue for the foreseeable future.
Also @Jonpy99 shared with me a very interesting video which showcases what is still at the Lenta military graveyard. So I'll go over what is seen, firstly many Italian M113's can be seen, including various VCC-2's and M577 Command post carriers. Image
Image
Image
Image
More suprisingly, more B1 Centauro's have now showed up. According to @IDV_LMV(big shoutout to him for the help) they should be relatively new additions. If these end up disappearing in the future, its possibile they'll make their way to Ukraine. Image

🇮🇹IMBT what we know so far, a thread.
Since many of you yesterday expressed interest, this thread will go over what we currently know about the next Italian Army MBT which will be produced in Italy and enter service in the near future. Image
A little background before we start, in recent times Italy has decided to focus on heavy brigades, one of the main requirements the Italian Army set out was for 125 upgraded Arietes and 125 new MBT's to compliment them. Initially KNDS and Leonardo worked towards getting the🔽 Image
well known Leopard MBT into service, however due to some disagreements that proposal ended up being dropped. So Leonardo ended up choosing Rheinmetall's KF-51 Panther as a base for Italy's new IMBT. Italy will be putting out of service a chunk of their C1's, so more MBT's🔽 Image

🧵Since some of you have been asking, I wanted to make a thread which goes over some important details in regards to the Leonardo-Rheinmetall partnership and what it means for the Italian Army stopgap MBT and A2CS program.🔽 Image
Firstly, final assembly lines, testing, delivering activities and the logistic support will all be based in Italy. Specifically 60% of the work will be in Italy with heavy input from Leonardo. Image
When we talk about the the Lynx and Panther, we aren't talking about the base versions we have already seen but fully Italianized variants specifically made for Italian Army needs. New variants for the EI from then on will be based on these Italianized versions. Image

End of the road for the 2A8IT...?
From the CEO of KNDS-“The parties did not manage to agree on configuration and consequently, talks about Leonardo’s strategic participation in KNDS have also fallen short. Yet KNDS continues to be committed to support the Italian Army.” Image
This is a real shame, I do hope this is somehow going to be resolved, with how things are looking Italy may look towards the KF51 Panther from Rhienmentall. Which may also play into what platform they will choose for the A2CS IFV program.
Also correct me if im wrong, but from the statement from the CEO of KNDS, it seems to be hinting at them still being able to offer the 2A8 to Italy, but without the planned modifications from Leonardo.

With the 8th Italian military aid package for Ukraine soon to be finalized, In this thread I wanted to go over what other aid Italy could provide to Ukraine in 2024. Image
One of the main armaments Ukraine needs more of is artillery munitions. Last year Thierry Breton visited the Simmel Difesa (owned by Nexter) and OTO Melara industrial plants in Italy, it seems they are both involved in supplying munitions to Ukraine already. The 8th pack could ⬇️ Image
include munitions from both of those companies, such as the 155mm Vulcano which we've seen Ukraine already has access to.

Lets talk about the AICS for the Italian army, specifically the Italian proposal by CIO and what's been going on behind the scenes since it was first showcased in the form of renders, and what we can expect to see in the future. Image
The recent DPP states that 5.2 billion euros have already been allocated out of the needed 15 billion. The AICS is going to be a long-term strategic program for Italy, it wont just be here to replace the Dardo IFV but to completely introduce a new family of vehicles into service. Image
These vehicles will fill many different roles, they're planning for two scout variants, one with the HITFACT MK2 turret, armed with a 120mm cannon and another with a 30mm cannon, probs Bushmaster but it might be changed to the Leonardo X-GUN. It will also be able to launch UAV's. Image
