🧵 The alleged “opening” of the #Rafah crossing must be understood as a component of Israel’s ongoing genocide in #Gaza: despite claims of humanitarian access, only 5 critically ill Palestinians were allowed to leave Gaza through Rafah (@WHO)& only 12 were allowed to return. /1
Gaza’s Ministry of Health reports that approximately 20,000 Palestinians require medical evacuation, inc. 440 critical cases.
🔴 They estimate it would take years to evacuate them if the crossing continues to operate at this rate & 10 critically ill people will die every day./2
Even if the reported 50 patients/day, only on foot, were permitted by Israel to evacuate, it would still take 400 days to evacuate all those currently in need of medical attention. /3

Through bombardment, siege & the destruction of civilian infrastructure, Israel has caused mass injury & illness in Gaza while deliberately dismantling the healthcare system needed to treat both the wounded & those with critical conditions, inc. cancer & dialysis patients. /4
Taken together, Israel has caused mass injury and illness through its ongoing genocide, destroyed the medical system capable of treating those affected, and then severely restricted access to urgent medical care outside Gaza. /5
Destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system & attacks on infrastructure as Palestinians endure winter in tents, constitutes the deliberate infliction of conditions of life calculated to bring about physical destruction & serious bodily & mental harm (Art. II, Genocide Convention)./6
At the same time, return is deliberately obstructed. Those who leave for life-saving treatment risk permanent displacement, while those blocked from leaving are left to die. These measures perpetuate the genocidal conditions of life and forcible transfer in an ongoing #Nakba. /7

🧵In Trump’s so-called Charter for a US-controlled 'Board of Peace' (BoP), there is no mention of Palestine, the Gaza Strip, or the Palestinian people. The right to self-determination and return is entirely absent. Read on for a breakdown of the charter 👇 /1
The project excludes Palestinian representation. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu – wanted by the ICC in relation to international crimes committed in Gaza – has accepted an invitation to join the BoP. No Palestinian representative has been invited. /2
The BoP lacks the legal attributes of the “international organisation” it proclaims itself to be. It is an illegitimate, commercial project centred on an economy of genocide that nonetheless claims international legal personality. /3
🚨 Israeli Occupying Forces have been attacking Al-Mughayyir village northeast of Ramallah since Thursday (21 Aug)
🔴 Reports of widespread home raids, residents assaulted & detained, property vandalised, theft of money & gold jewellery & cars damaged (smashed with rocks). /1
Since 21 Aug, IOF have closed the village’s western entrance, trapping hundreds of residents outside.
🚑 Ambulances were blocked from entering. A pregnant woman had to walk nearly 1km to reach an ambulance, & a 3 y.o child in need of urgent X-rays couldn’t reach a hospital. /2
Around 300 residents, including students & workers, are trapped outside the village.
Those who tried to return via an alternative route through the hills reported being met with IOF tear gas, stun grenades, & settlers attacking them with stones. /3
The WHO confirmed that Al-Ahli Hospital, the last fully functional hospital in #Gaza and the main facility treating mass casualties from Israel’s constant airstrikes, is officially out of service after being directly targeted by the IOF. 1/4
This latest attack on a medical facility follows the demolition of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, the last cancer treatment center in #Gaza, on 20 March 2025. 2/4
Less than half of Gaza’s hospitals are still partially functional, struggling to deliver care in damaged buildings and facing severe shortages of medical supplies due to Israel’s total blockade. 3/4
1/ On #WorldWaterDay, we must address the catastrophic reality faced by Palestinians, especially in Gaza, where the deprivation of water and destruction of vital water infrastructure are tools of Israel's ongoing #GazaGenocide /1 alhaq.org/advocacy/26121…
#GazaGenocide: Israel is committing genocidal acts of deliberately creating conditions intended to bring about the destruction of the Palestinian people, including the weaponisation of water and other necessities for survival /2
Targeting Infrastructure: Israel has destroyed or severely damaged 89% of Gaza’s water and sanitation systems, leaving the population vulnerable to waterborne diseases. The daily water supply is dangerously low, below the minimum standard of 15 litres per person /3
🧵 Since the start of the #GazaGenocide, Israel’s use of so-called “evacuation orders” & “safe zones” constitute genocidal acts, under the guise of abiding by International Humanitarian Law.
Our latest publication ‘How to Hide a Genocide’ examines how.
Key points & analysis ⬇️/1
Over 90% of Gaza's population (inc. the elderly, disabled, sick, injured, & expectant & breastfeeding mothers) has been forcibly displaced from their homes & temporary shelters, the majority of them multiple times, to alleged “safe zones” which make up less than 15% of #Gaza. /2
With insufficient space, shelter, sanitation facilities, food/water sources & medical care, these “safe zones” are intentionally designed to inflict conditions of life calculated to bring about the destruction of Palestinians in Gaza (Art. II C, Genocide Convention) /3
🚨Al-Haq’s Forensic Architecture Investigation Unit (FAI) analyses evidence, finding that Israel’s genocidal attack on Al-Tabaeen School shelter in central #Gaza on 10/8/24 was deliberately calcultated to inflict mass killings & injuries of #Palestinians /1
At around 4.50AM on 10 August 2024, initial media reports & footage showed a deadly explosion that killed & injured dozens of Palestinians, inc. those displaced, sheltering at the school. According to the Palestinian MoH, +100 Palestinians were killed in the attack. /2
Eyewitnesses told our field researchers that Israeli Occupying Forces (IOF) targeted the school’s mosque adjacent to rooms housing the displaced. A day prior, Mohammad Abu Saada, the mosque’s Imam & director of endowments in Gaza, had encouraged people to attend Fajr prayer /3
