There will be many people who will not be familiar with this story or some of the details.
In 1972, 11 Israeli athletes and coaches were hunted down and slaughtered by the ‘palestinian’ terror group Black September at the Munich Olympics. They were referred to as 'arabs' at the time, BTW.
It wasn't until 2012 the families were finally shown graphic photographs that had been kept from them.
Yossef Romano, a weightlifter was shot in the face, then tortured and castrated while still alive. His body was left in front of his teammates, as a form of psychological torture. Others were beaten with rifle butts, until their bones broke and faces were smashed. During the bungled rescue, people were burned alive after a terrorist threw a grenade into the cabin of the helicopter whilst others were shot at close range.
For decades, officials denied what had happened - there was no proper memorial and no global outcry. Even the International Olympic Committee refused a moment of silence for years.
I took a very important step today and met with a Rabbi to formalise my connection to Judaism. My father was Jewish and my mother was Gentile. With the events of this last year and with the world as it stands today, I’ve never felt more connected to my history and I also have my Jewish ‘family’ on X to thank for this. @IsraMum, on 4th July, you posted a statement from Ariela, the mother of Roy Miller, who fell in battle in the northern Gaza Strip. 2/4🧵
She said: “We will be in a mutual bond with each other, and we will strengthen our faith in the Creator. Haredi, Secular, Religious - we share together the Land of Israel that belongs to us as part of the Promised Land...we are not a conquering nation, we are returning home.“ 3/4 🧵
