The big disconnect is gen z doesn't view China as the enemy. They're not the ones shooting up our schools, putting us in a lifetime of debt to go to college, taking away our bodily autonomy. The boogie man doesn't work on us we weren't spoon fed Cold War propaganda
This isn't to say China is the good guy. But most zoomers barely know about Hong Kong, Uyghurs, the extractive practices in Africa etc. and doesn't view the conflict in a "battle of civilizations" framing people alive for the Cold War do
They tell us we're being monitored and we're like ya we've had our online data collected since we were children, they call it a national security risk but idk any genz American that stays up at night and worries about china attacking
