🧵1/5
My experience of the @tusla tracing service for #adoptees has been an absolute farce.
I got my redacted #birthinfo, appealed it & got 5 extra pages, still heavily redacted 🙄
I got a phonecall from Tusla saying I was on the #DNA expert waiting list.
2/5 Roll on a few months & I receive another call from @Tusla, the #DNA expert is no longer an option, objections from the #AAI to the use of a #DNA expert had resulted in the termination of the expert’s contract!
Another wait for a case worker….
3/5 Met the case worker, she was clueless in #DNA & tracing.
Case worker contacted the WRONG family, made repeated phone calls to a man that wasn’t related to me.
@tusla closed my tracing case citing ‘no more we can do to trace you’re birth fathers family’!
4/5 I found my half sister through #DNA, through her I found another half sister.
Another 2 half siblings were found by @danielmloftus, he did the work that @tusla refuse to do.
Not everyone has a genealogist friend, I am so lucky to have him.
5/5 The #TracingService needs to be removed from the remit of @tusla, they are ill equipped to do any tracing service, their lack of expertise is unacceptable & denies those who are entitled to trace birth families a service that delivers
