Neil Trennan is an extremely violent rapist who was serving two life sentences.

Yet he was let out on unsupervised day release when he absconded and attacked a young student.

There are serious questions for David Lammy - yet his department has responded dishonestly. 🧵 Image
Trennan is behind bars again.

But so serious was this case that the Judge said he would send his sentencing remarks to David Lammy.

Lammy’s spokesman claims: “We have not yet received the judge’s sentencing remarks.”

But they are published here: judiciary.uk/judgments/r-v-…
We need to know:

What steps Lammy has taken to investigate the decision to transfer Mr Trennan to open conditions?

Who authorised the decision to transfer him to an open prison and let him out unsupervised - and on what basis?
What changes will Lammy make to ensure this cannot happen again?

Why the Judge said he would send the sentencing remarks to the MOJ but Lammy claims not to have received them?

Why the MOJ has claimed ignorance of the case when the sentencing remarks are online?
You can read more about this appalling case here: telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/04/1…

Three teenagers escaped prison after gang-raping two schoolgirls.

The country is shocked and disgusted.

But it is explicit government policy to send fewer criminals under eighteen to prison.

I’ve written to David Lammy demanding he changes course. Image
The rapists filmed themselves raping their victims, laughed at them, and held one at knifepoint.

The judge said he wouldn’t send them to prison because they were “very young and none of you have been in any big trouble before.”

Lammy says sending fewer young criminals to prison is an “achievement”.

He has launched a dangerous review to find out the purpose of court for teenage criminals.

I say the purpose is to lock up serious criminals including brutal gang-rapists.

He clearly disagrees. Image

The UK Together rally in London today is being sold as a march of love, unity, and hope - against racism and the far-right.

But a quick look at who’s backing it reveals a very different story. 🧵
Among the supporters are groups like the Muslim Council of Britain, the Muslim Association of Britain, MEND and Friends of Al Aqsa.

All these groups are under official disengagement polices from the government over extremism concerns.
The MCB was first banned from engagement with government in 2009 over support for the extremist Istanbul Declaration.

The ban remains in place - officially.

Not that it stops ministers and Labour MPs attending their events and legitimising their campaigns.

Starmer is backtracking on his "Islamophobia" definition in stages.

But retreat will fail.

Because the problem is a fundamental one.

You can't treat religious ideas like a racial identity. 🧵
The remaining definition, for example, talks about "prejudicial stereotyping".

Is Ricky Gervais guilty of that when he tells this joke? youtube.com/shorts/XeMdl8S…Image
Was the Prime Minister guilty of "prejudicial stereotyping"?

When he attacked Mothin Ali for attending a protest where people chanted “death to Israel” and held up placards showing Ayatollah Khamenei?

Zack Polanski thinks so.

We are about to lose a vital source of information about the worst crimes imaginable.

From the rape gangs and migrant offenders, journalists have used Courtsdesk to expose what is really going on.

But Labour are deleting the archive. 🧵 whatlaboursaid.com/stop-the-groom…
Before Courtsdesk, the public information about criminal hearings was inaccessible and unreliable.

Official court listings matched reality just 4.2 per cent of the time.

Two-thirds of courts routinely heard cases the media never knew about. thetimes.com/article/09cdee…Image
Courtsdesk allowed journalists to track cases by offence and study data across the entire country.

Without it, so many stories would never have been told.

Here are just some examples of how Courtsdesk helped journalists to uncover in the criminal justice system:

More detail on the misuse of AI by the police.

They didn’t just deny it to the home affairs committee.

They denied it in FOI requests.

They said they have no AI policy.

So officers are using a new, unreliable technology for sensitive purposes without training or rules. 🧵
This is Craig Guildford’s first answer to the select committee last year on the use of AI.

“No, not at all. We do a very comprehensive assessment.” Image
This is what the police said in reply to an FOI request by Ewan Mackey, a Conservative councillor.

“AI tools not approved for use in West Midlands Police computer systems.” Image

NEW: more evidence shows West Midlands Police rigged the "intelligence" to justify banning Israeli fans from Villa Park. 🧵
On 21 October, the UK Football Policing Unit sent West Midlands Police a report from the Mayor of Amsterdam.

Dated 11 November 2024, it recounted the trouble when Ajax played Amsterdam. committees.parliament.uk/publications/5…Image
The report is online in Dutch.

We should compare it with the internal email sent by WMP that purported to summarise the "intelligence" they said they had received from the Netherlands.

This Dutch report says the trouble started with "aggression and threats" towards Israelis. Image
