*CAN WE BUILD NEW IITs BY JUST WATCHING IPL?

It comes from Prof. Mayank Shrivastava,Professor at IISc Bengaluru, one of India’s leading researchers.

He asks: "India doesn’t lack money. Indians don’t lack money. What we lack is the vision to invest in the future."
Look at the numbers:

📌 IPL 2023 revenue: ₹11,770 crore
📌 BCCI surplus: ₹5,120 crore
📌 3-year IPL profits: ₹15,000 crore
📌 Potential tax (40%): Enough to build 10 new IITs
📌 Franchise profits: ₹800–1,200 crore/year →

Tax potential:₹6,000 crore/year for research
But here’s the irony:

⚠️ BCCI pays no income tax (charitable status)
⚠️ Research labs pay GST on equipment
⚠️ Bollywood, religious trusts, sports leagues = tax breaks

Dr. Shrivastava calls it out: “Entertainment is subsidised. Research is taxed.”
Now the real question:

👉 Why does a cricket board enjoy tax exemption while research institutions struggle for funding?
👉 Why are we taxing microscopes but not match tickets?
👉 If India truly dreams of becoming a tech powerhouse, is this where our money should go?
We cheer for sixes, but who’s cheering for science?

Repost if you think it’s high time India fixed its priorities. *Today’s Food for Thought*

* When a filmmaker clearly publishes a disclaimer regarding, both time line & facts, WHY ARE YOU BEIMG MORE LOYAL THAN NAPAKISTAN IN DISHING IT?

* Do you agree that Napakistan fought 4 wars against us?

* The Napak Army & the Jamaat carried out a systematic genocide of both Hindu & Muslim Bengalis all of which was document by Archer Blood in the Blood Telegrams?

* They killed 1000s of our civilians, bombing/shooting terrorist attacks.
If at the end of all this, as an Indian (assuming you are one) why would even a "propaganda" film against a vile enemy. BOTHER YOU SO MUCH that you try to tear it apart with more anger than even a Napakistani will muster (It is a hit in Napakistan-Pirated, of course)?

2010 (Appeal to Muslims globally)

In a message emphasizing unity & resistance, Khamenei said (roughly translated):

“…the major duty of the elite of the Islamic Ummah is… sympathy and assistance to the nations of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and Kashmir…
and to engage in struggle and resistance against the aggressions of the United States, the Zionist regime….”

— This ties Kashmir to other Muslim conflicts in a broader ideological frame.

2017 Eid-ul-Fitr Remarks
Khamenei linked Kashmir with other conflicts like
Yemen and Bahrain and urged the Muslim world to act:

“The Muslim world should openly support people of… Kashmir and repudiate oppressors and tyrants who attacked [them].”

— This call frames Kashmir as part of a collective struggle.

* 59 Hindu pilgrims, including 25 women & 25 children were burnt alive by a mob of Muslims at Godhra.

* The Nanavaty Commission reported that " it was a premeditated crime and not an accident".

*the conspiracy was hatched by some local Muslims at the Aman guest house
in Godhra the previous night & the conspirators immediately made arrangements for collecting about 140 litres of petrol from a nearby pump on the night of 26 February 2002.

T he next day when the train arrived in Godhra, Hasan Lala, after forcibly opening the vestibule between
coaches S-6 and S-7, entered S-6 and threw burning rags setting it on fire.

A dismissed CRPF officer named Nanumiyan, and Maulvi Husain Haji Ibrahim Umarji, a cleric in the town of Godhra the masterminds behind the operation.

#AimForSolution
I think the reservation policy right from the start was ill-founded.

Instead of treating it as a problem to be solved, it was treated as a system of distributing what was considered foundational privileges like:

a) Education and
b) Jobs
Naturally, the Reservation policy which was meant to be temporary, say for a decade or so, has metamorphosed

* Into a political votebank
* Which seeks to perpetuate caste, rather than resolve it.

TO MY MIND ALL ISSUES MUST BE APPROACHED AS PROBLEMS REQUIRING SOLUTION....
There can be approaches, other than Reservation

Caste in the 1960's meant poverty.

Poverty and social ostracisation meant no education and consequently no high-paying jobs.

A huge working population meant labour was dirt cheap and ill-paid.

After Galwan Valley (June 2020): the strategic reset

1. Indian gain of heights (the turning point)
Aug–Sept 2020: India pre-emptively occupied dominating heights on the Kailash Range south of Pangong Tso.
These included ridgelines overlooking Spanggur Gap — tactically priceless.

For the first time, PLA supply lines and rear areas were under Indian observation.

Result: China was forced into negotiations, not posturing.
. Troop positioning: how long & how deep

* Forward deployment became permanent.

* India shifted from seasonal presence to year-round, winter-hardened deployment.

* Approximate posture since 2021:

50,000+ Indian troops in eastern Ladakh.
