Having looked at the manifestos, we are drilling down a bit more into the constituencies and regions. We plan to list all the candidates and puzzle out current polling.

We haven't canvased all the candidates, but thought this would be a great way for constituents - or candidates - to let our followers know where they stand. We will do a thread for each region. Please add any feed back/comments to the post relating to your constituency or region. We will share our experiences of candidates if relevant!

We have mainly drawn on the polling from YouGov and More In Common as they have looked at the constituencies. Other polls are available, so feel free to point out any data we missed!
Glasgow

Constituencies:
The 2024 general election saw Labour push back in the old Glasgow heartland, but disillusionment with UK Labour may contribute to keeping the area solidly SNP. Across the region, Reform has overtaken the Conservatives and their trajectory may result in syphoning votes from Labour rather than the SNP.
Glasgow Anniesland
Sandesh Gulhane - Conservative and Unionist Party
Eunis Jassemi - Labour Party
Colm Merrick - Scottish National Party (SNP)
Sean O'Hagan - Reform UK
James Douglas Speirs - Liberal Democrats

Anniesland was the seat of the father of the Scottish Parliament, Donald Dewar, but it’s been in the hands of the SNP since 2011. Councillor Merrick is taking the reins from outgoing SNP MSP Bill Kidd. Labour took the roughly equivalent Glasgow West seat in the General election with a massive swing but polls are still indicating an SNP hold.
Glasgow Baillieston and Shettleston
Amy Carman - Liberal Democrats
Thomas Jordan Kerr - Reform UK
David Linden - Scottish National Party (SNP)
Pauline McNeill - Labour and Co-operative Party
John Murray - Conservative and Unionist Party

Former MSP John Mason who latterly sat as an independent for Glasgow Baillieston stepped down at the end of this session. The SNP’s Linden was previously an MP until losing to Labour in the General election. Labour has put forward one of their more high profile MSPs, @pauline4glasgow who has been a strong supporter of women’s rights and an important voice in the Parliament. Reform have put up one of their better known candidates in Thomas Kerr.
Glasgow Cathcart and Pollok
Zen Ghani - Scottish National Party (SNP)
Peter Michael McLaughlin - Liberal Democrats
Kyle Park - Conservative and Unionist Party
Adnan Zafar Rafiq - Scottish Common Party
Yvonne Anne Ridley - Workers Party of Britain
Anas Sarwar - Labour Party
Kim Schmulian - Reform UK

The old Glasgow Cathcart seat was held by James Dornan of the SNP. This is the seat which will be challenged by Labour leader Anas Sarwar, although polls still have the SNP ahead.

Glasgow Central
Naveed Asghar - Conservative and Unionist Party
Paul Bennie - Reform UK
Paul Donald Kennedy - Liberal Democrats
Vonnie Sandlan - Labour Party
Alison Thewliss - Scottish National Party (SNP)

Perhaps the most radically different of the redrawn Glasgow seats, Central covers areas previously in Kelvin, Shettleston & Southside. Thewliss is another former MP hoping to return to Holyrood and she is the strong favourite to win.
Glasgow Easterhouse and Springburn
Audrey Dempsey - Reform UK
Josephine MacLeod - Conservative and Unionist Party
Ivan McKee - Scottish National Party (SNP)
Nicholas Christopher Moohan - Liberal Democrats
Kenneth Nwosu - Scottish Common Party
Paul John Sweeney - Labour and Co-operative Party

Polls suggest this is a safe hold for Ivan McKee
Glasgow Kelvin and Maryhill
James Adams - Labour Party
Thomas Adkins - Scottish Common Party
Aimee Hope Alexander - Reform UK
Daniel Bowman - Conservative and Unionist Party
Bob Doris - Scottish National Party (SNP)
Iris Duane - Scottish Green Party
Daniel Khan-O'Malley - Liberal Democrats

Shockingly, MiC has this as a marginal between SNP and Greens. The Green candidate Duane is one of the more notorious trans activists. YouGov, OTOH, thinks Doris will return ahead of Labour.
Glasgow Southside
Arzoo Waqqar Abdullah - Independent
Holly Bruce - Scottish Green Party
Kamran Butt - Scottish Common Party
Rashid Hussain - Labour Party
Ross Hutton - Conservative and Unionist Party
Gordon Millar - Reform UK
Rachel Mary Byrne Park - Liberal Democrats
Kaukab Stewart - Scottish National Party (SNP)

With her old constituency reorganised out of existence, Kaukab Stewart has been gifted Sturgeon’s old patch. YouGov has Stewart well out in front, but MiC thinks it may be tighter with Labour. Stewart, never the brightest button, has called Labour's @hussainlabour “misogynist” for saying “As a father of daughters unlike the SNP and Green candidates, I am also unequivocal in supporting women’s rights to single sex spaces.” Good for him!
Rutherglen and Cambuslang
Clare Haughey - Scottish National Party (SNP)
Monica Lennon - Labour and Co-operative Party
Patrick Logue - Liberal Democrats
Allan Lyons - Reform UK
Chris Sermanni - Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition
Annie Wells - Conservative and Unionist Party

Another seat which is predicted to be a safe hold for the SNP.
Regional List - Glasgow
List votes top up the constituency votes. Candidates from political parties are ordered, so if you vote for a party on the list, it’s useful to know who the top candidates are.

Reform: 2 seats
Thomas Jordan Kerr
Kim Schmulian
Audrey Dempsey

Conservative: 0-1. The conservatives may well lose any representation in the region
Annie Wells
Sandesh Gulhane
Ross Hutton

Labour: 2-3 seats which should ensure the return of Sarwar and McNeill. Monica Lennon is 4th on the list, so unlikely to return
Anas Sarwar
Pauline McNeill
Paul John Sweeney

Lib Dem: Possibly one seat
Daniel Khan-O'Malley
Paul Donald Kennedy
James Douglas Speirs

SNP: 0 seats
Alison Thewliss
Ivan McKee
Kaukab Stewart

Green: 1-2
Patrick Harvie
Holly Bruce
Iris Duane
Other List Parties:
Alliance to Liberate Scotland For Independence
Independence for Scotland Party, Direct Democracy.
Independent Green Voice - Organic Green Scotland
Scottish Christian Party "Proclaiming Christ's Lordship"
Scottish Common Party
Scottish Family Party - Standing for Life
Scottish Socialist Party - Independent Socialist Scotland
UKIP - Scrap Holyrood
Workers Party - Scotland
Independent:
Elspeth Lynn Kerr
Craig Houston

Edinburgh & Lothian East
Constituencies:
In recent times, the old Lothian region has been largely painted yellow with a splash of gold in Edinburgh West & red in Edinburgh South. This election, the polling is a bit tighter with Labour seeking to regain East Lothian, NE Edinburgh & Central Edinburgh. The Greens & LDs might also throw a curveball in a couple of seats. If you are thinking of voting tactically, there are opportunities.
East Lothian Coast and Lammermuirs
Miles Briggs -Conservative and Unionist Party
Morgwn Davies - Independent
Nigel Douglas - Reform UK
Tim McKay - Liberal Democrats
Paul McLennan - Scottish National Party (SNP)
Martin Whitfield- Labour Party

The old East Lothian seat has lost Tranent and has been relocated from the South Scotland region. Paul McLennan of the SNP won in 2021 with a 1,179 majority over Martin Whitfield. It was previously held by Iain Gray of Labour. YouGov predict that Labour could take this seat from the SNP

Paul McLennan sat on the LGBTI+ CPG which pushed for GRR. He introduced a motion last November with the assistance of Scottish Trans to mark Trans Day of Remembrance (he also blocked us the day after he was elected).

Both @Miles4Lothian (Con) & @_MWhitfield (Lab) were MSPs in the last Parliament.

Central Scotland and Lothians West

Constituencies:
Central Scotland is solidly SNP in the constituencies and something seismic would have to occur to shake that. The list will be where the main shake ups happen here.
Airdrie
Euan Blockley - Conservative and Unionist Party
Neil Gray - Scottish National Party (SNP)
John Jo Leckie - British Unionist Party
Suzanne MacLeod - Labour Party
Brendan O'Donnell - Independent
Graham Simpson - Reform UK
Edward John Thornley - Liberal Democrats

Airdrie has been held by the Health Sec Neil Gray since 2011 and that is unlikely to change. YouGov have Lab in second place, but with both SNP & Lab losing voters to Reform. More in Common have Reform pushing the SNP hard in second place. Reform’s Graham Simpson was a member of the last Parliament.

.@campbellclaret @RoryStewartUK we did as you asked & watched you nodding like seals as McBride claimed there "was not a spate of people pretending to be trans, going into spaces & abusing anyone."

Men in women's prisons might not be pretending, but they are still dangerous.
And no, Rory, we aren't "very angry" feminists. We are furious & revolted that you think this is about "discomfort" as your guest would have it. It's about basic safeguards. It's about ensuring that women's lives are not on the line for a twisted experiment.
"Discomfort alone is not grounds to exclude people."

True - so don't exclude your cross-dressing brothers from your changing room. The reason they aren't allowed in ours is because there's that irritatingly large risk they might sexually assault women.

Yesterday, while Marion was enjoying #Alloa26 festival, Trina & Susan were in Parliament for another #IWD2026 event.

We are grateful to @POScotParl for inviting us.

The orgs platformed indicate that we still have a way to go to ensure a diversity of women's voices are heard.
The focus of the event was on youth inclusion in politics - unsurprising as the Scottish Youth Parliament & Young Women's movement made up half the panel.

However, what we really lack - and what we stand to lose this year are women with experience (incl the PO herself).
There was much talk of engaging "all" women in politics & learning from "lived experience".

Politics is not a "safe space" for young women. Perhaps they could stand up for young women like @_ConnieShaw & @CUSocOfWomen who are all too aware of how unsafe it is!

Big story on our challenge on Prisons.

Despite claiming they accept the SC ruling, @JohnSwinney & @scotgov are trying to get the court to issue a “declaration of incompatibility” stating that removing men from women's prison breaches their human rights.
thetimes.com/uk/scotland/ar…
As the Times reports, "A declaration, if granted, would state that removing biologically male prisoners who say they identify as female from women’s jails would amount to an unlawful breach of their human rights and throw UK-wide equalities laws into chaos."
Last month, we complained that ministers Angela Constance & Neil Gray had broken the ministerial code by stating that Scot gov accepted the Supreme Court ruling while actively challenging it by seeking this declaration.

John Swinney has written to us & rejected our complaint.

bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
🧵In the same week that @scotgov appeared in court to force a Judicial Review over their Prison Guidance which allows violent male criminals to be housed alongside vulnerable women in the female estate, the outcome of a Fatal Accident Inquiry was reported into the death by suicide of a trans-identified male in the Separation and Reintegration Unit (SRU) at Perth Prison.
Aiden “Sarah” Riley was a deeply unwell, dangerous prisoner who had spent his entire adult life in the prison system or under supervision.

The case reveals the type of criminal transferred to the women’s estate under the SPS policy, the serious issues which are overlooked or ignored once “trans” enters the equation, and the determination of ideologically driven officers to push transfers - even when the male prisoner is also resistant.

Despite the bizarre tale which unfolds in the report, one of the judge’s recommendations is that proposed transfers of trans-identified prisoners need to be dealt with more swiftly. In light of everything we know, this is absurd and troubling. A transfer to the women's estate should have been out of the question. Women, it seems, will continue to be used as support animals for some very violent men.

Aiden Riley was jailed for two years eight months in 2008 for stabbing Derek Graham (18) in Aberfeldy, Perth. Riley stabbed Graham in the back - the knife went through the chest wall and penetrated his left lung - had the angle been marginally different he would certainly have died. Riley was also 18 at the time of his conviction & on probation for another crime.

The BBC reported that Riley had been play-fighting with friends but took offence when he was hit. He went to his mother's house to pick up a knife and told her that he intended to kill someone. She told him to go to hospital but he later returned for the knife. After knifing Graham, he claimed that voices had told him to commit the crime.
