Meeting started at 6:07 with the Pledge of Allegiance .
Cynthia Wilson received honor from board members recognizing her hard work and dedication to students and her role as the head custodian.
Cynthia Wilson worked nearly 3 decades for the IPS district before retiring.
Crispus Attucks High School has a College Go Month which starts in September of every year and ends towards fall break. Crispus Attucks spotlights 12-14 local colleges for this program.
For College Go, a program at Crispus Attucks, showcased pictures of sweartshirts, business cards,and pendants that students created in the program.
The first year the program started with 296 students and 18 representatives, the second year it increased to 374 students and 36 representatives for the Future Center at Crispus Attucks.
The consent agenda was approved and seconded by Board Commissioner Hope Star from District 3.
Commissioner Ashley Thomas stated that April the legislative meeting did not occur but they did meet in March and disucussed how can our community and board can show up in the primaries on the positive things that are happening.
Commissioner Ashley Thomas spoke on the push on working in the referendum to get I passed.
Commissioner Hope Star expressed the servitude of board members strong commitment in stepping up for the community to inform people on education and legislation. Star thanked people in advanced for their support and made a public plea for people to join the cause.
Superintendent report with the Monthly School Spotlight. Stephanie Campos, the school’s leader spoke on Enlace Academy’s importance on engaging with students by leading with love, the power behind connection, character education and leadership development, and restoration.
Campos demonstrated the gradual increase of students responded who responded favorably to feeling that they belong. The most recent study showed that for December 2025, 82% of students felt that they belonged.
Academic field trips are prioritized for students for 6-8th graders. For the 2025-2026 school year, students have gone on two college trips at Enlace Academy.
Family engagement at Enlace Academy is important and the academy surpassed their goal of family participates from 80% to 94%.
Joint grant was approved called the Healthy Pathways to School where murals will be painted on their crosswalks at Enlace Academy.
Commissioner Thomas voiced her praise of School 96 and Enlace Academy partnership and expressed her joy of walking down the halls at Enlace Academy. Thomas also questioned Enlace’s home visit literacy program that they’ve been doing for 13 years.
The second superintendent report demonstrated by Melissa Collin’s and Tim, Executive Communications Director from INHP. They discussed their partnership with IPS to support employees on their way to home ownership. This comes at no cost to IPS employees.
Tim and Melissa explained that education classes, homeownership advisors, and will provide the marketing and facilitation aspects of the INHP program to IPS employees. They will taylor the locations to fit the needs of IPS staff.
The INHP and IPS partnership will be conducted in 5 phases. They are currently on Phase 1: Strategy and Customization. Phase 2 will focus on marketing and awareness.
Commissioners Hope Star, Ashley Thomas, and Deandra Thompson will be actively attending the Indianapolis Public Education Corporation (IPEC) meetings. Leadership roles will not be named or confirmed until the May meetings. Meetings will be remote and in person.
Comittee updates:
- Commissioner Deandre Thompson updated the board on education with examining student data on IREAD and retention data, geographic inequities, underserved zip codes, and the 3 E’s.
Public commenter Monica S., a 3rd grade teacher thanked educators and expressed her concerns over exhaustion from non-stop testing , the school district’s calendar change, and the failure to notify teachers of the timestamps that came with the teacher appreciation grant.
Jacobi, the leader of the excel program at the Future Center at Crispus Attucks shared all of the major opportunities that was presented to him and the fabulous people he has been able to connect with.

The Wayne Township Board meeting started with the Pledge of Allegiance at 6:00 p.m. with an approved motion to accepting the meeting's agenda.
Firefighters health insurance will have some significant changes. Additional coverage will be given to pension firefighters. It is not in the budget but details are being worked out and will be moved forward.
