Crazy thing about statistics 101 concepts like "correlation != causation": they produce lay "scientists" who are so epistemically pusillanimous that they refuse to believe anything without a p-value of <0.05.

As though false negative beliefs are better than false positive ones.
Some of the most important beliefs you can possess cannot even be described, much less evaluated, by the scientific method.
For example, in many cases, correlation actually IS indicative of causation. But these epistemically nihilist laypeople will nwvertheless gleefully prick pinholes in any assertion from someone not "ingroup" that does not mention one of these Cherished Golden Laws of True Science.
