After the Atari 2600 failed me. I decided to pull out the NES and see what I got on that one. It was another adventure so come along and follow the ๐งต๐๐ผ
At first boot all I got was a flashing red light and the video would flash off and on. I decided to unplug everything and spray contact cleaner in the slot and also clean the cartridges. That at least got me to a gray screen
Man did a little bit of wiggling and a jiggling moving the cartridge back a little side. A little hit the reset and voila!
And jackals looking pretty good too!
For another time though, it's going to take the boil the slot method. It gets a little bit old having to wiggle it around to get it to work. So later I'll tear it down, do a really good cleaning and boil that cartridge slot to help everything return back to its normal state.

I connected my Atari 2600 "Light Sixer" to my 1980 Samsung B/W TV using the black box switcher but never could get a signal. ๐I then struggled for ~30 minutes getting a remote control to work with an old Dynex Flat screen TV I bought from Goodwill a while back. Follow the ๐งต๐
I tried contact cleaner thru the switches and toggling them back and forth to no avail. Then, I checked the output of the 50 year old power brick and it was giving about 14 VDC. Perfect! Still when powering on, no signal.
I opened it up. Boy, not much to it!
I imagine there is another PCB under the cartridge box but man, this IS light!
On my way home from church today I stopped at an estate sale. They had two milk crates full of old records that look like mice had made a home and a meal out of! ๐ณ Such good old classic rock that was just destroyed. Follow along to see how it went!

I dug through them for a while and I did find a few that looked like might have potential so I offered $10. They agreed. If Fleetwood Mac Rumours is in good shape it would be a steal.
It took a lot of pretty deep cleaning, but all of the albums in the pictures turned out good including Fleetwood Mac! Rumours is going to require a deep cleaning and a couple others as well. Definitely a big win for $10.
