Hi, I’ll be live-tweeting today’s Administrative and Finance Committee Meeting of the City County Council starting at 5:30 p.m. for #indydocumenters @indydocumenters @mirrorindy.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy The Administration and Finance Committee of the City County Council reviews and approves all administrative functions of the city and county, such as human resources and employment, purchasing, legal counsel, constituent services, and internal audits.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy You can find more information about the Administration and Finance Committee at: .indy.gov/activity/admin…
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy The meetings are usually held in room 260 of the City County Building at 200 East Washington Street Indianapolis, Indiana 46204, however this meeting's location was changed to Southeast Community Services, 901 Shelby Street, 2nd Floor, Indianapolis, IN 46203.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy You can also follow along from home by watching the government access Channel 16.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy The meeting was called to order promptly at 5:30 p.m. with a roll call, a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy Proposal no. 193 was talked about first. The proposal recognizes the Stonewall Uprising and celebrates June as Pride month in the city.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy The motion carries.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy Next up was the proposal 119, the appointment of Jordan Gathers of Deputy Mayor of neighborhood engagement. It carries.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy Next was proposals 123 and 130 among others (they are moving very quickly!), most proposal seem to be the appointment of people to different offices.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy Next were the proposals 165 - 192 2026, which seem to be all related to low income housing units and payments in lieu of taxes (PILOTS).
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy Next, proposals 194-205 2026,related to zoning were up for votes, with the motion failing.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy Next up was public comments.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy There were no public comments.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy Next up was proposals 120-121 2026, having to do with budgets and taxes.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy A young man did have some things to say about funds going to CEOs of companies like Eli Lilly instead of the citizens that put these law makers in power. He was very frustrated, understandably.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy Actually there are several public comments from citizens angry about money being poured into Charter Schools when the people of the community are suffering and being ignored.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy Next were proposals 123 - 135 2026 were all carried with opposing public comments. It is actually a little disturbing to watch, honestly. It seems as though the Council does not care how its citizens feel.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy And the disgrace continues...
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy The proposals being discussed now have to do with affordable housing again.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy They are still moving very fast, and it is difficult to keep up.
@indydocumenters @mirrorindy Meeting adjourned at 6:47 p.m. with memorial announcements. This concludes the Administration and Finance Committee of the Indianapolis City County Council meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for July 14th. For more meeting coverage, check out documenters.org
