The loudest stories come from the edges - autonomous agents, massive job losses, whole industries about to flip. Read enough of these stories and it feels like you’re behind and everyone else is way ahead.
This didn’t feel quite right to us. So we surveyed 6,000 professionals across 10 markets to map where AI at work actually is. Here's what we found 🧵
Only 2% of organizations are operating at the most advanced level.
88% are still using AI mainly as a thought partner or assistant.
AI at most companies looks like using a chatbot - for drafts, summaries, even brainstorms. Which means there's a lot of room to grow.
60% of decision-makers say their org is ready to deploy AI agents; only 36% of the workers using AI agree. On overall confidence in their org's ability to use AI, the gap widens: 49% vs 23%.
Leaders think their AI transformation is much further along than people using AI everyday inside companies. It’s almost like leaders and workers are describing two different companies.
Your #1 all-time request is finally here! Here’s everything new 🧵
We’re excited to finally say it: you can now use Notion offline on desktop and mobile.
And, if you’re on Plus, Business, and Enterprise plans, your Recents and Favorites automatically download for use offline. This is just the beginning of our offline capabilities 🫡
Databases can sound… intimidating. But they’re the most powerful way to get things done in Notion. And they just got their biggest refresh to date.
Here’s what’s new 🧵
Databases got a makeover.
Web, desktop, mobile — all refreshed. Cleaner tables, simpler settings, fewer distractions. And now you can group, insert, or rename properties right from the menu.
New: Feed view to review content!
Turn any database into a scrollable stream — great for status updates, user research, bug reports, and more. Add comments and emoji reactions too 👀
Now here’s a tough problem.
As a codebase grows, so does the rise of old code and outdated patterns. This leads to burdened engineers and large clean-up sprints.
So, we developed an open-sourced system to modernize the codebase without compromising developer speed.
But how? ⬇️
We all encounter the same challenge. We want our codebase to reach an ideal state—like “no more React class components”— but getting there is pretty tough.
So what do you do? We found it best to gradually migrate, or “ratchet,” older patterns over a long period of time.
Now, here are the four parts of our “ratcheting” system:
Lint rules: A combo of custom lint rules + publicly available lint rules that flag problems.
Baseline tracking: Maintain a database that tracks existing error counts. Treat these as temporarily acceptable while preventing new instances.
